Issues Under Fire: "COP-BOTS" Clamp Down in Chi-town

The Clamp Down in Chi-town: With security tighter than a nun's %$#@! for the NATO Summit, the "Cop-Bot's" (mentally militarized menials) clamped down in Chi-town got a little rough. Although, even though there were plenty of Cop-Bot beat-downs for You Tube, with a lot of pushing and shoving, all in all the first day was relatively mild compared to previous government to government collaborative events.

Many protesters prepared for the summit, clashed with riot police when they tried to move their presence in the direction of NATO'S venue for the summit. However, establishing a perimeter far enough from the attendees, the "Cop-Bots" made sure all the free speech in the world, would have minimal impact if any on the so called talks.

Things did get crazy for a about two solid hours when the beaters and beaten engaged in a stare-down standoff. When the police tried to control the protesters' movements the crowd refused to budge. With more than a dozen protesters getting a summary ass-kicking, they were cuffed and hauled away.

The Cop-Bots made quick work of anyone caught throwing water bottles, wooden sticks and other objects at police. Save for the veterans who peacefully came to fling their medals for service back in the face of America to protest the country's needlessly endless, imperialistic militarism, much of the energy expended to protest the US/NATO's continued presence in Afghanistan may have been for naught.

Behind the scenes, many coalitions members are trying to get the "Hell out of Dodge" as fast as they can. Most just want to slip out quietly. The Australians, the Brits, the French, the Canadians and the Germans ( who were never all that onboard) have publicly expressed their plans to withdraw sooner than later.

Surface conversation only mildly suggest there's an appetite for the burdensome responsibilities of keeping Afghanistan from going adrift. Until the global 2012-13 election cycle is complete, one can expect to hear continued, yet faint chatter of support for the Afghan mission.  After that, best bets will be on the Americans doing all the heavy lifting.

NATO's Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen the alliance's Cheerleader in-Chief made a valiant effort to convince the international press that all concerned are just as committed to the Afghan mission as they ever were. According to Rasmussen, some coalition partners may prefer to contribute in other ways to accomplish the mission going forward. Translation: Hot cow pies for sale!
