Issues Under Fire: A Mellowed Mahmoud Can't Mute Crazed Critics
Rabid protest and aggressive rhetoric by local political hacks appeared irrational and over the top considering the "mild" message being delivered by the often depicted "controversial irritant", Iranian President Ahmadinejad. From our measure, there was far more negative energy emanating and germinating from the streets of Manhattan's east side than was warranted by the Iranian leader's address to UN General Assembly.
After paying excruciating attention to President Ahmadinejad's translated speech and carefully examining the full text of Iran's worldview, it was difficult to find much daylight between his presentation and our own recommendations for a world seeking a reduction in hostilities in favor of equitable prosperity for the planet's inhabitants.
We found no heated, belligerent, arrogant, inflammatory or threatening language to support the predicted hysterical fear mongering response Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promises to deliver today. In fact, for those willing to invest the time in ferreting out the facts for themselves, we suspect they'll realize the much maligned Mahmoud came across as rational and reasonable.
So much so, his representation of Iran's positions made the U.S./Israeli Union appear to be the clear aggressors in the ongoing dispute over Iran's nuclear program. Calling attention to what they feel is a double standard, Iran made a credible case for a reassessment of Western power's stranglehold over
Ahmadinejad says the world needs a new configuration of leadership and oddly enough, we can not disagree. Again, through a reasonable and rational presentation of the geopolitical landscape as it appears today, Iran argues the heretofore military/economic power players have historically and inequitably carved up the world's assets, taking the lion's share for themselves. Hence, smaller, defenseless and economically challenged nations consequently find themselves at the mercy of those maintaining the continually self enhancing status quo.
Calling for a new world order of leadership through a reorganization of the United Nation's voting structure, Iran is seeking a UN system of international cooperation that'll reflect a more egalitarian distribution of influence.
After witnessing the daily slaughter in Syria continue unabated, while the UN Security Council dickers and bickers among themselves, or worst yet, how the U.S./Israelis Union have singlehandedly kept the Palestinians in chains for decades via the all powerful Veto, one has to recognize something has to give way and it needs to give way soon.
With all the back alley bribing and off the record strong arming that goes on by the current power brokers, we too agree that the international community should be looking for fresher approaches to handling the many unfolding crises.
Considering the current calamitous conditions in the world, for which there appears few solutions on the political horizon, it seems more than reasonable to consider a radical change in how the international community confronts challenges and conflicts going forward.
In our final analysis, President Ahmadinejad ain't as nutz as the fear merchants and warmongers would lead one to believe.
