Issue Under Fire: If the World Could Vote, Obama Would Rule

When the BBC polled 21 nations around the world, it wasn't even close, as an overwhelming majority of the international community is pulling for Barack Obama. At a time when global cooperation is the only option left in arresting a slow but steady slide into economic ruin, having someone in the oval office that can be trusted is huge.

Let us repeat that. Having the trust of the international community is huge! What this latest news means to the Mitt Romney campaign, will never be truthfully acknowledged as they'll likely denounce the data and deny its relevance.

Nevertheless, Barack Obama has captured the world's attention and retains its overwhelming respect. Well, at least in comparison to Mr. Romney.

It might be a stretch, but not since JFK, has any world leader gained and sustained the levels of support beyond his/her own borders as this American president. As a result, the United States can and will reap some serious dividends by capitalizing on the widespread popularity of its leader.

To underestimate the "global political currency" of an American president being viewed as resurrecting its values after a nearly a decade of reckless aggression while fronting for multinational corporate profiteering would amount to a new level of idiocy . We see this as the president's personal international clout, built through consistently demonstrating a proclivity for dialog and a willingness to compromise.

Establishing a reputation for favoring conversation over confrontation was a refreshing contrast to the America of old and the world is responding positively. Hence, global support for Barack Obama bodes well for future international engagement.

Since its going to take global cooperation and collaboration to address global issues, having a partner the world can trust and respect will go a long way in reaching peaceful, equitable and cost effective solutions.

Going forward, there are bound to be contentious and vigorous international debates over differences in reaching goals and targets individual nations have set for themselves. But as the world struggles to divvy up dwindling resources, it will be the calm, cool and collected who'll be looked to for leadership.

No, we are not proposing we're any closer to a conflict free world, but you'll get there a lot faster with people you can trust!
