Issues Under Fire: AIPAC Hassles Hagel as Congress Ignores Sequestration

weird_week

Its Friday, and everybody should be thoroughly exhausted after a hellish week covering spectacular tales of madness, intrigue and human suffering on the high seas. In the same week that the Pope resigns, punctuated by a lighting strike to the Vatican-signifying something really weird and stupefying, we have a cop killing cop going out in blaze of crazed glory while fending off a hail of bullets from even crazier killer cops.

That should have been enough excitement for a month of Sundays, but we're actually watching Congress pack their bags for "Recess", leaving the nation wondering what the hell is gonna happen when the automatic sequester cut hit on March 1st. Fully aware hundreds of thousands of jobs will be lost, wiping out much of the employment gains for the last ten months, guaranteeing another steep recession that'll likely spread across the atlantic and beyond, the bastards will return with only five days remaining to solve an issue left dormant for two years. As amazing as that seems, we think we got a clue.

We find Congress' behavior so inexplicable, we've found ourselves back in conspiracy land again, wondering if this forced sequestration was the plan all along. Whose to say the dirty S.O.Bs didn't collude and conspire behind closed doors to snooker the public into suffering the draconian cuts, Congress didn't have the balls the negotiate in good faith.

If true, its not a bad plan considering Congress couldn't be anymore loathed than the institution already is. Being keenly aware of the public's disgust its a reasonable calculation to make and manageable risk to take.

We recognize, to entertain such wild unsubstantiated, speculation, one would have to accept the possibility America's entire political construct is literally working against "We the People" not for us. But what else we ask, can a sane mind think when nothing else makes sense?

But wait, there's more!

Essentially leaving the country defenseless, the usual well placed stooges in Congress have also taken flight without confirming President Obama's nominee for Defense Secretary. Slickly taking cover behind the "Benghazi Incident", AIPAC flunkies like Senators Lindsey Graham and Ted Cruz are doing anything they can to sabotage Chuck Hagel's advancement. And we think we got the goods on this one too!

Despite reports to the contrary, Chuck Hagel is simply facing the wrath of Israeli lobbyist hellbent on derailing "this particular" Presidential nominee for Secretary of Defense. Having determined Chuck Hagel to be an enemy of the State of Israel, special interest Goliath AIPAC is quietly applying pressure on weaker spines within their grip (Senators Graham and Cruz among others) to keep digging until they find some dirt.

Holding independent thoughts when it comes to the so called Special US-Israeli relationship, automatically preclude one from ascending to such a sensitive position. Those so bold as to offer up an opinion, position or alternative point of view that varies from the Israeli script will be confronted and eventually crushed.

In the case of Chuck Hagel, he committed the unmentionable. The former Senator not only refuse to grovel with congressional colleagues when asked to support the Israeli government no matter how said support would negatively impact U.S. interest abroad, he went so far as to consider diplomacy with Tehran when Israel will only consider war.

Make no mistake about it, any congressional representative finding themselves defying American/Israeli political operatives has sounded the death knell to any further career plans.

This was the kind of week that could have a lesser men/women their knees praying for better times. Unfortunately even that won't even help since the Pope quit.
