Celebrations remain on hold while the nation's law enforcement community await confirmation of a successful kill. Mad dog, cop killing traitor, Christopher Dorner still have many on edge as dental records and DNA are processed agonizingly slow.
The hoisting of a few cold ones, a lot of backslapping and a shit load of Oorahs may be only hours/days away, but for now caution remains the rule. If the cooked cop has any friends or family still brave enough to admit the relationships and capable of coming to terms with Dorner's horrid legacy, they too will breath a sigh of relief.
The last thing anybody wants to find after all the deaths and destruction,is that it turns out to be the wrong dead guy laying on the slab. The cops will look like bunglers, the road blocks go back up and the targeted cops had better beware.
As soon as a positive identification can be rendered, a carefully sanitized report of the murderous ordeal can be published for the public's consumption. Any individuals noted for engaging in activities above or beyond approved procedures will be reviewed and absolved of any wrongdoing. Some things are just a given.
Within weeks at most, life for those least impacted will be back to normal before they know it. On the other hand, family members of Dorner's victims may never recover. However, if there is a God, and sometimes we're not so sure, the officer Dorner story is truly well-done. Smoke-em him out or fry his ass, either way, Dorner's goose was cooked from the giddyup!
Still, Christopher Dorner's last stand did embody all the elements of the perfect human crisis to be made for TV . Implied racism, hate, anger, revenge, a raging shootout, a murderous rampage, a statewide manhunt, rabid cops, testosterone overload, hostage taking, insanity and innocent victims, all played their roles for a cable news commercial bonanza.
Oddly enough, this was also the kind of story that wisdom would have advised more sensitive mindsets to simply ignore. But when morbid curiosity gains the upper-hand, one is sometimes compelled to dig deeper for those bothersome details. And we all know there are many.
For the enterprising snoop, there is a book to be written about this tale, but to tell it right, one might be forced to turn the heat up on some heroes. More later if we're so inclined!
