Issues Under Fire: LAPD Coon Hunt Ends As Predicted

A racially charged LAPD manhunt comes to predictable end. The sub title could also read: Black cop crosses infamous blue line for the last time. With a million dollar bounty on his head, disgruntled and disgraced LAPD officer Christopher Dorner died, apparently by his own hand after being trapped like a coon in a cave.

You know the routine, barricaded suspect hopelessly out gunned, sticks gun muzzle in mouth and calls it a life. After a murderous rampage against fellow officers, no resource was spared to put this reported vicious turncoat down with extreme prejudice.

By all accounts, former LAPD officer Christopher Dorner ended his days as a murderer and killer. But despite the stories that'll confirm his deranged acts, we may never know what really triggered officer Dorner's trigger. Was he a madman, or was he simply motivated by the blind rage of someone incapable of dealing with the irrevocable rejection by his peers.

Whatever officer Dorner felt during his last weeks of life might have helped shed some light on many issues lurking in plain sight. After all, this tragedy did take place in Rodney King land. Considering Los Angeles Calif. has a dubious reputation at best when it comes to dealing with Blacks and Latinos, it could have been interesting were Dorner taken alive.

Monitoring chat rooms and other postings of support for Mr. Doner offered considerable substance to persistent and pervasive racial animosity between law enforcement and minority populations. Unfortunately for the general public, if someone is tagged as a mad dog, there will be no opportunity to probe his/her state of mind, nor and chance to understand the target's grievances. The kill order is given, the law dogs are released and before too long (especially in a cop killing) we're talking body identification, not apprehension.

Perhaps the message officer Dorner was trying to get out through social and cable news media may have had some merit, but because his sick and presumable tortured mind dove him to violence, that message will be buried with him.

In today's podcast, we also try to examine of a series of high profile murders and killings as the President's SOTUA address calls for laws to quell to gun violence. From the first lady attending the funeral of a kid who'd performed at the President's 2nd inauguration, to the thousands mourning the murder of America's most celebrated sniper by a fellow ex-marine on a Texas shooting range, to the aforementioned madness of LAPD'S cop on cop killings and subsequent manhunt.

Somehow, we think these incidents reflect something more than sheer coincidence. Karma Maybe? They say hope rings eternal, but some days we have our doubts.

BTW, we forgot to mention the N. Koreans are playing with firecrackers again!
