Issues Under Fire: There Are No Saints in the Middle East

If the United States government can admit and acknowledge that they are no saints in the middle east, only then can one start his/her search for the truth. Buried beneath decades of lies, lie the answers to an enigma wrapped snugly within clever riddles designed to frustrate the most determined peace seeker.

When forced to engage such a wily cast of characters, one would be wise to remember, everybody in the entire region has a score to settle, a bone to pick or an ax to grind. While certain parties hold a decided military advantage, others certainly possess the motives, the means and the opportunity to do anything to any body at any time for just about any reason.

With the stakes as high as a no fly zone, nobody's word is worth more than a grain of desert sand. Hence, yesterday, President Barack Obama’s spokesman said “much more” work needed to be done to verify intelligence assessments that Syria’s regime used chemical weapons against the opposition in that country’s civil war.

Jay Carney went on to say at a White House briefing," The U.S. needs to investigate whether there is direct evidence that Bashar al-Assad’s regime used the poison sarin in its fight against rebels". We say bravo for you Mr. President, as even a BFF like the Israelis may let self interest misguide their ethical compass. In their zeal to take the conflict to the next level, the President has to beware the consequences of getting this wrong.

Getting this wrong could place America's homeland in further jeopardy by domestic sympathizers looking for payback. The cost of security and the loss of civil rights in exchange for tighter security will become excessively burdensome on the populace.
That burden will breed a restive attitude. The American people will resent the new and ever increasing restrictions and the ever decreasing investments in the country to finance the means to secure it.

The first step in getting this right, is the independent gathering and analysts of any and all related evidence. Having U.N. inspectors serve this purpose should satisfy the Russians and Chinese. Knowing the Israelis love the United States as much as the United States loves Israel, we know they'd never lead this nation up a blind alley placing an undue burden upon us. But just to make sure, we'll do our own homework. Its not that "friends" can't be trusted, we just heard some place its wise to verify.

BTW, we think there should be serious repercussions for those intentionally submitting false and or misleading data.
