The Obama Administration has been reduced to clinging to the hope, that world opinion will turn against Edward Snowden and Glenn Greenwald. We'd Say, Don't Hold Your Breath! After a bush league play by the Justice Department in efforts to extradite Mr. Snowned from Hong Kong, the administration have seemingly enlisted support from America's lapdog media professionals to craft a more villainous profile of the international whistleblower.
Talking head after talking head now accuse Mr. Snowden of being a traitor and a coward. They've blasted him for going to countries with less than stellar records for freedom of speech and expression. Media professionals are accusing Mr. Snowden of giving the Chinese and Russians access to his laptops. Mr. Snowden is being branded.
The narrative being pushed by the administration, Congress and a complicit media is that Snowden is a creep and a criminal of the highest order. He is to be hunted down like a mad dog. He should find no safe harbor any place in the entire world. Anyone caught aiding or abetting this person of "extreme interest" will be dealt with severly. And these bastards mean it.
If the administration is successful in demonizing Mr. Snowden and journalist Greenwald, the world will miss the message it desperately needs to get and throughly understand. From the evidence Snowden and Greewald's possess and seem intent on sharing is, the United States government is barely better than those it criticizes for being stiflers of privacy and freedom, if at all.
Outside of the stooges in America's mainstream media, the world view seems to be very supportive of both Mr Snowden and the couragous reporting by Mr. Greenwald of the U.K. Guardian. As we carefully scanned the comments of most reputable blogs and established Internet new outlets, the overwhelming sentiment is with the man on the run.
The United States government is taking a bloody beating in the court of international opinion. The vast majority of global citizens that are paying attention to this sage are pissed. With Snowden having a few friends and supporters in high places, the international whistleblower has so far thwarted U.S. efforts to silence him. Russia China Cuba Venezuela and Ecuador have offered assistance either by granting a space to chill until he can consider all his options, or simply ignoring U.S. request for the quick grab and hold treatment.
America has reached a critical and pivotal point in its history, for the outcome of this crisis will certainly define without doubt exactly what the United States is really all about.
