Fear not, we aren't breaking from our investigation of what's motivating Western interest to undermine a political solution to the Syrian conflict by introducing arms to the problem before talks begin. We are however, examining the announcement of NATO's handover of military and policing responsibilities to the Afghan government going forward within that context.
Since the milestone announcement was followed quickly by Afghanistan, announcing they were all ready to negotiate with the Taliban and that announcement being quickly followed by Afghan President announcing those talks have been just suspended because the U.S. announced they too are ready to negotiate with the Taliban, we think this is exactly the madness to be avoided moving forward with intervening in Syria.
While you probably won't see a headline like this in many places today, it is our assessment, that the Taliban has just sent another pack of interloping infidels on their way as the locals live on to fight another day. In support of our findings, we'll submit any benefit analysis will clearly show, the cost in blood and treasure for what the United States and its allies delivered by way of results is shameful.
As the West hands the keys to back to the Afghans, the US and its coalition of the marginally willing can officially start packing their bags. The Afghan army, ready or not will be the primary defenders and policing authority for the Afghan people. The Taliban may or may not decide to talk peace with the West, but even it they did, they're in a strong enough position to say F/U.
Lets face it; the U.S. is demanding the Taliban recognize the Afghan constitution, break all ties with their Al Qaeda pals and let little girls go to school. Thats what the U.S. needs to see in order to feel the fight was worth the effort. But, what if the Taliban says they want to rewrite that Afghan constitution? What if the Taliban want to continue hanging with their Al Qaeda buds? What if they decide they like their women stupid and uneducated? What if the Taliban says, as soon as you leave we're taking over this joint? What the hell is the U.S. gonna do, stay and fight until they comply?
While the West could threaten to withhold love and future support, we think the Taliban has proven, after all have been said and done, they've flat out won. And they've won against significant odds.
Still, it must be recognized, they could not have done it without help. As quietly as it will be kept, without disgracefully poor US strategic planning, glaring ignorance of global cultural differences, an outdated foreign policy and an incompetent US Congress, the Taliban could have never pulled this shit off.
If this incredible outcome is all Americans got after thousands dead and trillions spent, we think the West should take Russian President Putin's advice by thinking not once , not twice but three times before foolishly engaging in Syria's internal affairs.
