Issues Under Fire: Obama Holds Bolivian Leader Aloft in Hunt for Snowden

Suspected of smuggling American Whistleblower Edward Snowded, Bolivian President subjected to International Stop and Frisk as French and Portuguese Run Interference for Obama
Apparently, the Obama administration is as desperate to capture American whistleblower Edward Snowden as Edward Snowden is desperate to remain free. When we reported in yesterday's podcast the United States was pulling out all stops to apprehend and silence Mr. Snowden, we had no idea that would include jeopardizing the safety and security of another world leader, let alone undermine the dignity of an entire nation.
President Evo Morales of Bolivia was held aloft in his presidential plane by being refused passage through French and Portugal airspace. Presumably at the behest of the United States government, France, Portugal and Italy, acquiesced and ran interference for the Obama administration.
More than likely overreacting to wild rumors that Snowden was stowing away on the Bolivian Presidents plane, " some idiot " gave the order to slow that craft down. Eventually being allowed to  land for refueling in Vienna Austria, the Bolivians were livid to say the least. Austrian officials reported Morales' plane was searched early Wednesday by Austrian border police after Morales gave permission. Bolivian and Austrian officials both say Snowden was not on board.
Bolivian Defense Minister RubĂ©n Saavedra, who was also on the presidential plane, accused the Obama administration of orchestrating the actions of France and Portugal, calling it “an attitude of sabotage and a plot by the government of the United States.”  Whoa!
Perhaps sabotage is a bit strong, but most would agree, that was a reckless and arrogant option. From where we stand, if the reporting of the New York Times holds water on this story and we think it will, the Obama administration is beginning to look rattled. After all, what Barack Obama just did was tantamount to an international stop and frisk. This is straight up madness.
