The Devil's Compromise
If the "Real"Syrians want their country back, they may have to consider the unthinkable; partnering with Bashar al-Assad to expell extremist and other external elements from the country. A ceasefire agreement will be far easier to maintain when the civil war is limited to just the Syrians. If the Geneva meeting don't focus on this first, the best of efforts will surely fail.
If Vladimir Putin can get his guy to sign on to a solid ceasefire agreement, then the West will have to convince the Syrian opposition to follow suit. The dilemma facing Obama administration, is that they have no one point of contact authorized to speak for all factions comprising the so called Syrian Rebels.
President Putin has the advantage, as President Obama will eventually be forced to put people on the ground to ferret out out the real troublemakers.
All eyes will remain on Geneva for the next 48 hrs.
