Issues Under Fire: Despite US Assurances, World Watch History Repeat Itself

U.S. Secretary of State Kerry presents the administration's case for U.S. military action against Syria to a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing in Washington
Lying with Passion
With roughly 100k lives too late, the White House and supporters are now appealing to America's heartstrings over the tragic deaths of Syrian women and children. Alleging the deaths occurred at the hands of the dastardly Bashar al-Assad, using chemical weapons, John Kerry made as compassionate and compelling an argument for attacking Syria as one could imagine without a supporting violin accompaniment.
Creating visuals of children shivering and shaking from the effects of sarin gas coursing through their poor little defenseless veins, was difficult stuff to listen to, but when the professionals start laying it on that thickly, you know its time to pay attention and start taking notes. This is history. This is history repeating itself.
Starting this weekend and bleeding across all U.S. media, is the narrative of U.S. outrage and the need for the world to respond to these horrific acts of crimes against humanity. Another tyrant brutalizing his own people with impunity will not be tolerated.
That narrative continued throughout yesterday's Senate Foreign Relations hearing to authorize and legitimize President Obama's request to attack Syria. With more than a whiff fear mongering in the air, John Kerry intimated a very clear scenario of how those horrid biological weapons could some day harm U.S. interest and allies if the United States failed to act and act now.
The United States' reputation is on the line. This is a matter of being taken seriously. This is a matter of national pride. This is the time to send the world a message.
Message to the World:
The United States will standby while hundreds of thousands are killed and maimed as long as the killing and maiming is done in compliance with international rules of military engagement. The United States will standby while millions are sent fleeing for their lives into neighboring nations to live as refugees as long as a tyrant don't cross any of the United State's arbitrary red lines. This message also says to anyone in the world that might have a conflict with the United States, they need at least a nuke or two as a deterrence against U.S. aggression.
We know this all sounds so familiar, but these are the latest script changes and unfortunately there weren't very many. Even though the American people, have sat through this show before and ain't buying it anymore than the global community, the administration insist on selling tickets to the same tired program.
We are going to make things right for the good of the Syrian people. We are going to use U.S. military power to hold Bashar al-Assad accountable. We are going to do what no other nation on the planet is capable of doing. We are going to be heros.
How are we going to be heros? We are going to arm, train and support the Syrian rebels. We are going to help get rid of the current leader. We are going to eventually help with reconstructing Syria's infrastructure. We will have to help rebuild the Syrian nation while propping some stooge until the U.S. can bow out disgracefully. Again!
Barack Obama says Syria is no Iraq or Afghanistan and planned U.S. attacks will not amount to war. Others would say amassing as much navel power as one can muster off the shores of another nation, while threatening to attack with hundreds of cruise missiles is a blatant act of war. Still others would argue, said acts of aggression without being attacked, provoked or even threatened by the targeted nation is at the very least, beyond international norms and more likely a violation of international law.
Bottom Line: The actors may have changed, but the script reads the same. U.S. officials make case for war against another nation to protect national security interest and save innocent lives. How F-ing Noble
