Issues Under Fire: President Uses Bully Pulpit to Beat Sense Into GOP Malcontents

crazy republicans
In a futile effort to corral the reckless, President Obama repetitiously reminded Republicans of the impending catastrophe if they continue to refuse to be reasonable and rational. They're refusing!
Once again, taking his case to directly to the American people as well as international spectators, President Obama made a valiant attempt to reeducate the nation on what the Debt Ceiling means and how important it is not to tamper with it. All the while, he continuously hammered home how the incredulously shortsighted and selfish actions of an ignorant few can and will create irreversible harm to the U.S. economy and beyond.
As the President spoke, for most, this all began to seem all to familiar. We've not only seen these scenes before, but we remember the script, the set design, the cast of characters, the plot and the ending. We distinctly recall with great clarity how the first attempt to crash the world's economy lead to a super committee which led to a fiscal cliff, which led to the proposal and eventual implementation of the sequestration, which led the country to a government shutdown, which led us right back to another attempt to crash the world's economy.
Super Committee 2.0
Like the 1993 film Groundhog Day, many were stunned to hear the President reveal the GOP's proposition of another Super Committee to deal with the current political standoff. If there is anything this writer likes less than a mystery is having to repeat myself. But the longer we're compelled to cover this looming disaster the more we find ourselves mysteriously repeating ourselves.
This story has reached full circle. The nation is now literally going around and around on some macabre political mayrygoround designed by clever conspirators to confuse and confound the masses. How the nation's leaders could be so bold as to relaunch this mother of all bad ideas again so soon, thinking no one would notice is beyond amazing. It only begs one to wonder if they really are that crazy, or do they think the world is really that stupid.
