The Realities of Veterans Day
As an alternative to the parades and wreath laying ceremonies that's been planned for today,we thought shinning a light on those responsible for creating conditions that led to the horrible sacrifices should receive the dishonorable mention they deserve.
Because of decisions made, votes cast and prioritized funding for the purpose of conducting military operations around the world 24/7, 365 days a year, a very small and select group of individuals are culpable for sending America's most loyal men and women into harms way.
Many times, few if any of the patriotic and the honorable have the slightest idea what the true reasons are for their endless missions and request for service. They answer the call of duty for the love of God and country without reservation or regard for personal loss. Ready to sacrifice life, limb, family and future to confront foes unbeknownst to them, they selflessly answer the call.
Beware Those Baring Memorial Wreaths
They voluntarily deliver themselves onto battlefields and other theaters of conflict against those who've done them no harm. They go to war on the word of men and women who lack the same courage commitment and character demanded of them. And when the wounded return battered, beleaguered and bewildered, they're often greeted with worthless speeches, medals for valor that carry no value and a bureaucratic nightmare just to obtain promised benefits.
Still, few bitch and or even complain much because they still believe in America. They still believe America's leaders are capable of making sound ethical and moral judgements. But mostly, they still believe the hype. Unfortunately, when America's leaders get it wrong or worse, does wrong, its the soldier who pays the price.
'Forward, the Light Brigade!' Was there a man dismay'd? Not tho' the soldiers knew Some one had blunder'd: Theirs not to make reply, Theirs not to reason why, Theirs but to do and die: Into the valley of Death Rode the six hundred. Words of a 1854 narrative poem by Alfred, Lord Tennyson about the Charge of the Light Brigade at the Battle of Balaclava during the Crimean War
Just something to think about as the United States enters talks with Iran.
