Understanding America in the New Dark Age
In preparation for a new season of Issues Under Fire, it was necessary to review the last five years of blog post to help provide direction and establish priorities moving forward. That process not only revealed the obvious, (Americans are being scammed by an elite force of wealth, power and influence) but also exposed those responsible (America's mainstream media) for failing to do its job to expose that elite force's activities.
From healthcare, to Wall Street, to consumer protection, to minimum wages and income disparity or access a 21st century education, little has changed in any significant way to alleviate the growing pressures on American's middle class. If one were to review the condition of the poor, to say they've been left out in the cold would be an understatement.
Of course, there's been some basic cosmetic changes, but for the most part, any gains that were made, were more than offset by major losses. One word should suffice here: Sequestration!

This blog, as well as rants and raves at the Daily Kos, have thoroughly addressed what has been happening, what is happening now and what is easily predicted for the future, so there are no secrets here. Actually, by now everybody should know they're being suckered and who is suckering them.
Unfortunately, with the help of an incompetent, underfunded or complicit media, those who are scheming against the masses to keep profits high at the expense of the people have been able to perpetuate their plans unchallenged. Still is begs one to wonder how this could happen in an age of information and technology. It almost seems as though much of the population just didn't get the memo. We literally watched in amazement at what the mainstream media led with as important news for the New Year: Governor Chris Christie's Bridge-Gate.
With more information available to the average person today than in any other time in history, most remain woefully ignorant of how the world works and how the world is working against them.
The only explanation currently available to account for this phenomenon is perhaps this country has degenerated into a new dark age despite the advantages of technology. The average American has been reduced to that of a grunt (a low-ranking or unskilled soldier or other worker). When precisely did the intellectual regression begin cannot be pinpointed but, but it almost seems like the bigger the TV screen gets, the less you can see.

Bottom Line: We've got to understand this new "American Dark Age", if we are to have any chance for re-enlightenment.
