| Can You Spot the "Moderate"? |
As Washington publicly quibble over funding for America's long term unemployed, food stamps for the poor, and much needed job training for the nation's growing demographic of underachievers , select members of congress have secretly authorized untold amounts of ready cash to take sides against Syria's Bashar al-Assad.
While few Americans would begrudge assisting men, women and children suffering endlessly and needlessly through no fault of their own, "We the People" clearly established limits on the type of assistance Americans would be willing to provide. President Obama received that unequivocal message when he came to congress seeking authorization for air strikes against Syria in August of 2013.
Nevertheless, the Obama administration apparently feel so confident they've determined who can be trusted to receive more than just humanitarian support, have, for all intents and purposes joined the fight despite the people's vehement objections.
Since the CIA and other US covert support is already operating full blast in Syria, the United States can now be considered up to its ass this shit.
And BTW, the Syrian government aren't taking these latest development lying down. Here is the text of the Syrian government's objections as it responded at the ongoing Geneva 2 peace conference:
"At the time when Geneva 2 was convened in response to the Russian-American initiative, which was based on Geneva 1, which stresses in its first item the need to stop violence and terrorism, the world is surprised to find one of the initiators of this conference namely the United States of America, and in a step that moves in the opposite direction to all political efforts exerted, and in contradiction to Geneva 1 in letter and spirt, the United States has made the decision to resume arming terrorist groups in Syria.
Such a provocative decision is a flagrant violation of SC resolution 1373( as everyone is sure the arrival of American arms to terrorist groups cited and terrorist on the list of security council for individuals and entities sponsoring terrorism, such as ISIL, AL Nusra and the Islamic Front). The timing of this decision is truly Surprising, as it reflect negatively on Geneva 2 conference.
But Wait there's more:
This decision can only be understood as a direct attempt to obstruct any political solution in Syria through dialog, and is in complete contradiction with the commitments of the United States according to Para 1 of Geneva communique, on the basis of which we are all meeting here
Those participating in the meeting condemn this American step and call upon the United States and other countries who are providing the terrorist with arms to immediately put an end to this irresponsible behavior which may well undermine Geneva 2 conference, and ensure the failure of all the efforts exerted to ensure its success."
Bottom line: President Obama may have technically kept his word not to start any new wars, but he has without a doubt, quietly and covertly, joined one already in progress. Bread and blankets is one thing, but bombs and bullets during sensitive peace negotiations is a bridge too far.
