Issues Under Fire: How the Rich Rules America

How the Rich Rules America
A lot was learned during the Kiev uprising. The world was treated to a show of the people's strength when they unify and mobilize for a common purpose. Toppling a corrupt self interested leader in order to forge a new direction for their lives, the people of Ukraine should be heralded as examples of self determination. If they can remain united long enough to establish a government that puts the people's interest ahead of its own, Ukraine could be a model for others saddled with political establishments designed to marginalize the masses.
When I review what is happening around the world and compare the American response to its political construct, I must admit I was struck when I realized how the rich have ruled so successfully so long.
It must be mind-boggling  to manage and monitor minions by the millions. Keeping them in check with the lure of one day joining the ranks of the rich and famous, while at the same time keeping them divided by race, gender, religious and ethnic categories, fighting for mere bones being thrown their way is no easy task.
Still, with centuries of experience in the art of divide and conquer, the average Joe/Jane have very little chance of every seeing the bigger picture. When one is blinded by the bright lights of lies and promises, its difficult to see the dark realities lurking in the shadows.
Income inequality is a global issue that has finally been realized by Americans. The fact that its taken so long for the American worker to come to terms with its plight is only testament to the plutocrat's ability to keep the American dream alive. As long as people could be convinced better times were just around the corner, they'd get up everyday and head off to increasingly lower paying jobs with fewer and fewer benefits.
If anybody should start to get wise, their attention is redirected to anything and anybody other than those directing the events affecting their lives. When Americans are directed to look laterally and below to find the source of their problems, they'll never see the puppet master above.
Throughly convinced that Whites, Blacks, Asians, Women, Latinos, Jews, Gays and Lesbians, Muslims and all those other people; like the tall, short, fat, skinny, slow, blonde, sick, young, old, and the poor are the root of their problems, Americans can blame no one but themselves.
But the Plutocrat types must be nervous now. As the world shrinks due to travel trade and technology, some people are able to see more than ever before. Those more astute have been connecting the dots. Patterns can be detected that were heretofore successfully blocked and blurred by distance. If Americans can get past its issues with diversity, they just might have a chance.
Bottom line: What is happening in Kiev is a bad example for the rest of the world. The rich in America did not want to see things turing out as they are in Ukraine. Beyond that, they hoped Americans didn't see how things are turning out in Ukraine. It might give the American people ideas.

When people ask me why Americans should pay attention to what is happening in Ukraine, I say, to learn how to bring about change.
