Issues Under Fire: Ukrainians Rival Sochi for Night Light Show

Battle Tested!

Ukrainians Rival Sochi for Night Light Show:
The people of Kiev showed the world they too know how to light up city with a sense of excitement and flare. Jousting with authorities to the tune of "burn this mother down", protestors came ready to rock and roll. And they certainty threw some rocks and rolled more than their share of molotov cocktails.
Ukraine protestors could give lessons to aspiring malcontents world wide, as there appeared prepared to meet the Ukrainian authorities on equal terms. Donning battle gear and armed with baseball bats and crowbars, hardcore dissidents hit the streets looking for somebody to bash and something to burn. Nobody can say the the people of Kiev don't know how to throw a party!
There was none of that peaceful, shoulder to shoulder, march by candle light crap, these people came for a fight and that's what they did; fight. When one recall recent American demonstrations against government overreach, corruption and its allegiance to the corporate elite, U.S. dissenters look more like a riot of pussies than Russia's Pussy Riot.

A group of tit taunting girlie girls showed more balls than the entire Occupy Wall Street Movement. A little pepper spray, and the so-called American rebel types scurried back to the relative comforts of their parent's basements.
Still, before we get ahead of ourselves, these folks have yet to be tested by what Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and Russian President Vladimir Putin can throw at them once they've decided enough is enough. If Putin decides to play tough guy, a uniquely Russian styled beat-down could be in the cards after Russia's Sochi Olympic showcase ends.
Prepared to Fight
Putin and Yanukovych may be laying low until the time is right. When all the hoopla dies down, they can strike as hard and heavy handed as they please to quell any ridiculous notions the Ukrainian people may be harboring of looking to the West. And timing is everything!
Considering North Korea's Kim Jong Um has been placed on the world's shit list as the latest tyrant to be defanged, Putin and company can hide behind the horrid tales bleeding from the ugly side of the DMZ for awhile. But, over playing this hand could prove dangerous if the Ukrainian people are determined to fight to the end. He could be inviting the kind of trouble Russia hasn't seen in a long time.
If Putin played the role of tactician and not the tough guy, he'd shock the world by offering the Ukrainian a counter offer. A smart progressive leader looking to revive respect for mother Russia would examine the root causes of why the E.U. looks so attractive compared to what Russia has to offer.

If Russia can't compete with the lure of Western promises, then Putin must be prepared to let the Ukrainian people go their own way. Vladimir Putin would look more like a statesmen confident in Russia's future, than a second rate strongman holding people against their will.
