Granted, this is ugly commentary considering how long the Palestinian Authority led by Abu Mazen has been talking to the Israelis, but expectations have been so lowered, its difficult to see who Abu Mazen is negotiating for anymore.
If the Palestinian Authority don't show progress sooner than later, the charge of collaborator could begin to stick. Suckered into another round of fruitless negotiations, Abu Mazen and his team has no options left but to seek international support wherever he can find it. With the cloud of corruption already swirling about, it wouldn't take much to trigger an internal fire he can't put out.
On the 3rd of April 2014 the UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Robert Serry has confirmed receiving requests made by the Palestinian Authority (PA) to join 13 international UN agreements and conventions.
The PA applied to join the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, Children's rights conventions and anti-torture and corruption conventions, the PA also requested Switzerland for the opportunity to join the fourth Geneva Conventions and its first ratified protocol.
Not stopping there, they also reached out to Holland for the possibility of joining the Hague Convention on Laws and Customs of War on Land, signed in 1907. Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesman for the UN Secretary-General stated the international organization would discuss and determine what and how to deal with the applications as soon as they are officially submitted to the UN Headquarters.
Palestinians Say No More Talk, Time for Action
Gaining status of a non-member state in the UN in November 2012, gave the PA the ability to join any of the UN agreements and conventions. According to the Palestinian News Agency Maan, Abu Mazen signed letters of accession for the following treaties and conventions:

The only fathomable reason the US and Israelis would object to Palestinians raising their stature in the international community outside of the cramped confines of controlled closed door talks, would be to keep them from attaining additional rights and tools to confront and expose years of collective punishment, racism, apartheid, human rights abuses and war crimes. Heretofore, the Palestinian have been effectively silenced by those preferring to keep the "process" contained and out of the world's view, but those days are long gone now.
To voluntarily remain held hostage in closed talks that have been designed to delay and derail, won't be tolerated much longer. As Israeli settlements continue to grow and conditions in Gaza continue to deteriorate, Abu Mazen Mahas has no choice but to take the Palestinian people's case to the entire world.
Bottom line: Despite what's reported in U.S. domestic media, the international community has had a belly full of the US-Israeli Union's stall tactics and are more than ready and willing to act in the interest of global peace. Since the Israelis have finally exposed themselves as the saboteurs of this latest effort, now is the time to take actions that count. No more talk!
