Issues Under Fire: Living the American Dream in Other Parts of the World

American Dream & American Middle Class Merely Collateral Damage of Globalization

If one takes the time to actually define the American Dream, they'd find they'd just defined the American Middle Class too. Job security, living wages, affordable benefits and some disposable income after retirement contributions are made, is the very foundation for living and maintaining a middle class lifestyle. If you're really lucky, you might even have enough to leave the kids a little something to get started in life.

There you have it. One paragraph, with barely 50 words, quite succinctly describes America's basic dreams and aspirations. Hardly too much to ask from the richest and most exceptional nation on the planet. If one has played by the rules and took full advantage of all the opportunities an exceptional nation provides its citizens, a middle class lifestyle is what a hard working American should expect and demand.

Unfortunately, an examination of unbridled domination by multinational corporations through globalization, manipulated tax laws and dubious trade deals reveals, the American Dream is merely collateral damage of said globalization, etc. Therefore, if the American Dream is dying, the American Middle Class is dying with it. With the United States government working at the behest of its international business benefactors the likelihood of the American Dream or America's Middle Class surviving as we know it is highly unlikely at best.

Still, smart Americans should not be too alarmed, as the American Dream is still alive and doing well in other parts of the world. We know, because we've found it! However, only those open-minded enough to pursue the American Dream to the ends of the earth, will have any chance of attaining it. One must be willing to globalize one's self to succeed in a global environment.

For the forward thinking adventurist, wise enough to make contacts with American expats spread across the globe to help them see the light, they'll surly enhance their chances for health, happiness and lifestyles worth living.

Sadly, many Americans are at a considerable disadvantage being monolingual and only marginally educated compared to other competitive industrial nations. Those are the people who'll be left voting election cycle after election cycle hoping some Democrat or Republican will eventually make a difference in their lives. Don't be a sucker!
