Issues Under Fire: ISF Lack the Balls to Stand Its Ground
Now that ISIS has proven they own the Iraqi army, one must ask how they could bitch slap a supposedly well armed and well trained security force into submission. How could experienced military units lay down their weapons, take off the Iraqi uniform and surrender to an enemy known for unrestrained acts of barbarism. Training notwithstanding, one has to ask why the basic human instinct for survival didn't kick in to make them fight for their lives?
If reports of 1700 Iraqi military captives being massacred is even remotely accurate, that means these men (if you can call them men) allowed themselves to be slaughtered like sacrificial lambs without even firing a shot. In short, WTF were they thinking?
Did anybody tell the Iraqi army, that if cornered, out gunned, out manned or out witted, the smart soldier would grab as many weapons and munitions as could be carried in haste and to destroy everything left behind to keep it out of enemy hands? Hell, you could learn that from watching America movies.
Did those in the United States military charged with training the Iraq Security Forces see these problems on the horizon. Could they tell if the trainees were really properly prepared for battle. Was there a language barrier? Was the average trainee stupid, not paying attention or just didn't give a good God damn?. Did the American taxpayer get ripped-off for the billions spent to equip and train the Iraqis to defend themselves? And lastly, who the hell signed off on the Iraq Security Force's readiness.
Since the Iraqi military has comported itself like a pack of pride-less pussies to date, its difficult to determine how tough ISIS fighters really are. Even if the cowardly Iraqi units didn't think Iraq (as it is today) was hardly worth fighting for, one would think their lives would be worth the effort. Perhaps the black clad ISIS guys would run like a bunch of bitches too, if the Iraqi forces had the balls stand its ground.
Bottom line: At the rate ISIS fighters are gobbling up territory unopposed, it may take years to field a crew incentivized and motivated enough to reverse their gains. If the ISIS can hold on to what they've conquered thus far without seizing another foot of Iraqi land, they've won big time for the time being.
