Issues Under Fire: Israel Continues Killing Spree With Full US Support
As tens of thousands protest around the world against the indiscriminate bombing of defenseless Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, the United States, as per usual stands firmly behind Israel. "We strongly condemn the continuing rocket fire into Israel and the deliberate targeting of civilians by terrorist organizations in Gaza," White House spokesman Josh Earnest said on Tuesday. "No country can accept rocket fire aimed at civilians, and we support Israel's right to defend itself against these vicious attacks.” That's the administration's story, and as the saying goes, they're sticking to it.
Despite having full knowledge of the conditions on the ground and fully aware of the events leading up to this latest bloodletting, the Obama administration offered up the Palestinian people like sacrificial lambs. Seemingly powerless to to find the courage necessary to spout anything but Israeli talking points, American values are being sacrificed just as easily. With no mention of the Palestinian's rights to life liberty or the pursuit of anything, the United States government has given Israel the green light to kill with impunity.
After watching the Palestinians being provoked into another fight they can't possibly win, America's citizens are once again, witnessing its nation's contribution to a senseless mass killing. Providing the arms, technology and funding for Israel's all out assault against men women and children armed with rocks and ineffective rockets, has brought international condemnation, but those protest are falling upon deaf ears.
From Europe to Australia and nearly every other point on the globe, the voice of the people are shouting for the carnage to stop. Unfortunately the forces that control America's leadership are far to powerful to let those voices be heard.
Bottom line: No matter how staunchly the United States government stands by Israel, the America people stands with the rest on the world when it comes to doing the right thing. And there is nothing right about what Israel in doing in Gaza.
