Issues Under Fire: Palestinians Maintain Right to Resist

Treated to another hot summer of bloody violence courtesy of the Israeli government, it would be far more interesting for the international audience, if the Palestinian people had the right to resist. Witnessing the destruction of homes and the killing and maiming of civilians by a military hardly opposed in any meaningful way is just sadistic. Whether you can empathize with the Palestinian cause or not, no one likes to see an outright slaughter of human beings.

Unfortunately, the Israelis have concocted a narrative so slickly packaged, it leaves anyone opposing its policies or practices appearing hostile to its very existence. Claiming the right to defend itself against any threat, real or perceived, the slightest disagreement with Israel can have one labeled a terrorist in the eyes on the Israeli government. Once tagged as a terrorist or a supporter of same, you lose all rights to self defense of any kind. You are now a target.

Israeli spin specialist are currently cluttering Western media outlets, making their case for this latest grizzly act of aggression, by demonizing Hamas for having the nerve to resist what they believe is Israel's use of genocidal tactics against them. Baked deeply into the Israeli narrative that Palestinians who dare to resent their circumstance are terrorist by definition, leaves few options other than just to lie down and die where they stand.

No matter how harsh the conditions or unfairly they are treated, the Palestinian is expected to remain docile and pacified. After decades of being jerked around, lied to and encroached upon, they're not even allowed to complain.  In the face of daily degradation and humiliation the Palestinian people are suppose to just accept it all as a way of life. Palestinians are expected to suffer in silence and remain in the shadows of a world too busy to care.

Bottom line: As the wanton bloodlust being perpetrated against Palestinians by an Israeli government over responding to a crime yet to be prosecuted, let alone solved, its becoming all to clear, the values the United States government claims it shares with Israel are not the same values Israel shares with the America people. If the truth is ever allowed to be told, Americans believe ever human being has an inalienable right to self  preservation, self determination and most of all self defense. Including Palestinians!
