Issues Under Fire: Why Would "Somebody" Sabotage the Gaza Cease-Fire? 

Day 44 of the Assault on Gaza: Another ceasefire, leads to another ceasefire violation. Israeli accusations leads to Palestinian denials. After a robust round of finger-pointing, negotiators have returned to their default positions of hostility. Game over? Hardly, but it is difficult to remain optimistic in an environment filled with such anger and mistrust. That being said, if the right questions are asked and answered, even the horrors of Gaza might be mitigated. 

It don't take a genious to surmise, that bad actors and rogue elements have been playing the role of spoiler in this process. Despite the rhetoric, "somebody" does not want peace. "Somebody" wants the hostilities to continue. "Somebody", is not only willing to allow the death and destruction to drag on unabated, but they're actively engaged in sabotaging every effort to curtail the violence, even for a minute. Identifying this "somebody" is critical. 

Since the Israelis bolted from the talks before an investigation could be lunched to determine precisely who is behind this vicious subterfuge, the fighting will continue with no end in sight. Since the Palestinian resistance have no other choice but to continue resisting, the fighting will continue with no end in sight. Again, "somebody" thinks this situation is sustainable. But again, who is this "somebody"? 

This "somebody" has something to gain by keeping the flames stoked. Can it be, that the Palestinians were bored sitting around during the ceasefire? Can it be, they enjoy the sound of drones buzzing overhead, smoke filled streets and the smell of rotting flesh in the air? Can it be that they missed the Israeli fireworks every night? Can it be, ducking and dodging air strikes and artillery shells has become fun for the kids of Gaza? Can it be, the children of the Strip get a kick out of playing Russian Roulette with unexploded Israeli ordnance? How else can Palestinian children get their hands on cool stuff like that? There is only one way, and that's to intentionally violate the ceasefire. Sounds crazy! 

On the other hand, can it be that Israel has determined they can destroy the Palestinian resistance once and for all if they only had a little more time? Can it be, that Israel would look defeated if the Palestinian resistance held their own against the worst Israel could deliver and lived to talk about it?. Can it be, that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would be pilloried by Right wing extremist in his own Party if he gives one inch during the negotiations? Can it be, the Israelis have committed so many verifiable atrocities in Gaza, it makes no sense to stop now? Sounds plausible! 

Bottom line: Somehow, someway, somebody must identify this "somebody"! Until international monitors can access the conflicted area to investigate these continuous claims of treachery, "somebody" will keep fanning the flames. We all know, somebody on the planet has the technology to eyeball this very small area of conflict for incidents like this. Somebody has eyes in the skies capable of spotting unauthorized rocket-fire during the calm of an agreed upon ceasefire. Somebody has to step up and do something soon, because "somebody" is trying to get away with murder!
