Issues Under Fire: If President Obama is Not Safe, Nobody is Safe

Issues Under Fire: If President Obama is Not Safe, Nobody is Safe
One has to wonder where all the billions in security spending is going, when those charged with keeping the nation and its President safe, keeps getting it wrong. According the Secret Service's website, the agency has approximately 7000 personnel and an operating budget of 1.6 billion USD annually. By anyone's measure, that's a lot of manpower and should be money to get the job done.
While one can expect there will be mishaps and mistakes from time to time, one should expect said mishaps and mistakes to be kept to an acceptable minimum. Unfortunately, acceptable is hardy the word to describe the performance of the agency responsible for the security of the most powerful man in the world. If the President's job is the most important job in the world, then protecting the president is the second most important job in the world.
Considering a quick review of recent Secret Service failures will reveal its total inability to secure the White House, the President or the President's his family, we thought it might be wise to review how competently those charged with keep the rest of us safe are doing. With all the surveillance cameras, bomb sniffing dogs, airport pat-downs, random searches, NSA monitoring and secret policing going on, one would think the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has things under control. In reality, you'd be wise no to bet your life on it, because nothing could be further from the truth.
If after 9/11 people have scaled the Brooklyn Bridge in New York city and stole the American flag (twice) leaving white flags of surrender in their place, one should be worried. If after 9/11 people have bypassed security at the new World Trade Center to skydive of the roof and scale the sides of the building for fun, while poorly paid security guards sleep away their watch, one would be wise to be concerned.
Bottom line: It may not be wise to place much faith in the U.S. government's abilities to protect anything or anybody no matter how much money is being spent to do so. If the President of these United States can't guarantee his own safety or the safety of his own family, how the hell can he guarantee the safety of us and ours. Podcast Below!
