Issues Under Fire: Facing Intifada 3.0, Israel May Stand Alone
Daily vicious attacks is the latest long term forecast for Israelis and Palestinians alike. Hate anger and revenge has taken root in the hearts and minds of extremist elements on both sides and there's no turning back now. By anyone's measure, the future of Israeli life sucks.
Tit for tat killings, street protest and demonstrations, the burning of Mosques and Synagogues, rock throwing, rubber bullets, water cannons, tear gas, stun grenades, live ammunition, indiscriminate stabbing and knifings, broken windows, slashed tires collective punishment and Molotov cocktails is what the Israelis and Palestinians have to look forward to.
Hardly a space on the planet anyone in their right mind would want to visit, the so-called Holy Land is hotter than hell and expected to stay that way for quite some time. Cowering behind gates, fencing, barbwire, stone walls and rifle scopes is a way of life for Israelis and for some ungodly reason, they seem to be okay with that.
The simple act of passing an Israeli Arab on the street will be tense these days. A mere dirty look of distrust or disdain by either an Israeli or non-Israeli could trigger a violent incident. These are the bloody days.
Unfortunately, as ugly as these bloody days are and will get, they were invited. Willfully refusing to negotiate in good faith for decades, Israel elected to use brute force to maintain its position. Having the United States covering its ass, the strategy may have appeared to some, as the actual solution to the problem. If they could only keep the eyes of the world occupied elsewhere, Israel could continue occupying the Palestinian territories.
With the growth of technology and spread of social media, the world can now clearly see for itself, both side of the conflict. No matter how many Israeli lobbyist or media savvy spokespersons fan out across the globe to manipulate world opinion, its doubtful, little more than an insignificant minority will buy their message. The world saw the seeds of unrestrained violence being sown this summer.
Israel's bloody assault on Gaza, may have been the final act of inhumanity to mankind, the international community would tolerate from the tiny rogue state. Since that latest military mauling and mangling of innocent civilians, the international community has been quietly, but steadily recognizing Palestinian Statehood, despite rabid attacks against E.U. nations for making the symbolic gesture. The United Kingdom, Spain and Sweden are just the latest, while France's Parliament will address the issue on Nov. 28th.
Bottom line: Israel's populations keeps growing, as it's culture and government encourages it to do so. However, the land is not growing. Hence, Israel faces the untenable position of having to forcefully and continuously confiscate more and more of that land. But sadly and much to Israel's chagrin, that land was previously acknowledged by the international community to be set aside for the future of Palestine.
Because Israel is committed to claiming and retaining as much as land it can grab, Israelis will not only live with the constant threat of an intifadas savagery and mayhem, but also the ire of the world as well. Podcast Below!
