Promising to fight the Obama administration tooth and nail for the next two years, the GOP's plot to arrest the development of America for the duration of Barack Obama's presidency might succeeded. No more than a cursory review of GOP activities will reveal countless efforts to derail, destroy or defund any and all projects, proposals or programs put forth by the president to propel the country forward.
When the GOP began blatantly and proudly acknowledging their primary objective was to deny the President any successes at any cost, the country should have been placed on notice, that its very future was under attack. Any effort to destroy the president was tantamount to an effort to destroy the country. Undermining the Obama administration at ever turn over ever issue without offering any viable solutions was a strategy to stagnate progress and stifle growth.
If progress and growth are the engines that drives nations and economies, then any entity that throws a monkey wrench into the machine could be committing an act of treason. Wrecking the nation's economy puts that nation at risk and its future in jeopardy. Fortunately, the administration has been able to mitigate some of the havoc with modest gains in employment and buoying the markets, but if not hampered and hamstrung by overt and covert obstructionism, this country could be humming along nicely.
Since the United States' economic reach is global, anything that stymies advancement domestically will retard growth internationally. That said, the GOP not only poses a significant threat to the United States, but its scorched earth policies threatens the world's ability to move forward too. Taking actions like shutting down the United States government and threatening to disregard honoring the nation's credit obligations, the GOP has willfully caused irreparable harm to the country.
Left unchallenged, the damage the GOP is inflicting upon the United States during the Obama presidency, will dwarf anything ISIS or any other terrorist organization will ever commit against this country. ISIS is a regional issue with limited reach beyond its shifting borders. There are no boundaries the GOP would not cross to sabotage President Obama. With infinite funding and its base support built from hate and anger, the GOP can sustain an assault on the nation indefinitely.
Bottom line: While a few heads may roll in Iraq and Syria, all in all, ISIS can be dealt with far easier than the GOP. Save for a few maniacal militants returning from middle east battle zones with malice on the mind, ISIS can be managed at arms length. On the other hand, the GOP has proven to be a potent domestic security threat, the country has yet to fully recognize. Podcast Below!
