Issues Under Fire: Lame Duck President Still Armed & Dangerous
While the Democrats may have taken a beating in the midterm elections, for those willing to think the outcome through completely, we're sure they'll find the President is more powerful than he'd ever been. No longer saddled with protecting weak and in many cases disloyal candidates, he can reset the populace tone for the party going forward. The wisest political candidates will see the positive populace philosophy for what it is and follow it to the letter.
Through the power of the Veto pen and careful use of executive orders, President Obama can actually build a platform for the next Democratic presidential nominee. If the president remains forceful and consistently press the GOP on issues like immigration, income inequality, investment in infrastructure and education, climate change, Net-neutrality, healthcare and hiking the federal minimum wage, he can set the stage for a series of brutal fights the GOP can't possibly win.
Since the Senate will argue the Keystone XL Pipeline issue this week, we'll start there. Once the nation is properly educated as to the short term rewards versus the long term risk of the Keystone XL Pipeline, no populace minded candidate in their right mind will want to be caught caring water for Canadian and U.S. oil Corporations.
When the public fully understands the Keystone XL Pipeline  will cross the nation north to south to deliver the world's dirtiest oil sands crude, with the highest of carbon footprints, they'll bristle at the idea. When the public realizes the pipeline is only being built to get Canadian oil out to the world market and won't lower the price of gas at the pump for American drivers one red cent, they'll reject the idea.
When the public understands that any massive hirings will quickly trickle down to little more than a handful of long term full time jobs, they'll realize the risk of accidents and incidents both predictable and unforeseen is hardly worth the endeavor.
The public will clearly see, continuing to Investing in yesterday's energy technologies in the face of overwhelming scientific evidence demanding an immediate shift in thinking will appear to be total idiocy. Hence, the GOP will seem as slippery and slimy as the filthy oil products the oil corporations are conniving to transport across some of America's most fertile farmlands.
Considering the GOP has no ideas, no plans or positive alternatives to provide or promote, it will finally be exposed for what it is. The GOP will be revealed as small minded, corporate owned and operated, flunkies for hire. They'll be no convincing arguments or appetites for shutting down the government, threatening the nation's credit rating or impeaching the President. That isn't to say, GOP extremist wont try their level best to be as disruptive as possible.
Bottom line: If the GOP is spoiling for a fight, they'll only be playing into the Obama administration's hands. This is an opportunity for the president to remind Americans where the country was headed before being intentionally derailed by the GOP. From where we stand, President Obama remains in the driver's seat and he's rolling in a Tesla.
