Issues Under Fire: GOP Butt Plugs for Bibi Vs. Dems for America
It must have been a difficult decision for Congressional representatives not attending Benjamin Netanyahu's joint session of Congress address. Knowing how Washington D.C. works, you can bet, heads are being counted and names are being taken. This could be seen as a loyalty test. Those who attend will be remembered as a friend and those who are absent will remembered too, but not fondly.
Considering "some people" make a point of never forgetting "stuff" tend to hold grudges, those who decided to support the United State and President Obama over the Israeli Prime Minister's demand for attention are bound to be the targets of some form of retribution. Nothing overt mind you, but there will be a price to pay for standing on their principles. If one is to be considered a friend of Israel, one stands for nothing but a safe and secure Israel. That's what they paid for and that's what they expect.
When its time to raise funds for the next election, the "unreliable" may suddenly find their usually dependable donors to be a lot less generous. Perhaps funding and financial pledges for projects in "certain" Congressional districts will suddenly and inexplicably be diverted elsewhere. If a contribution is made, it'll be as insultingly meager, as someone leaving a penny tip, just to make a point.
Still, a far more likely scenario will be, calls from the "disobedient" start to go unanswered, meetings being canceled and invitations rescinded for those who chose to stray from the trough. As long as the Congressional representative stays committed to the Israeli narrative, stick to pre-approved talking points and vote as per instructed, their continued public service is pretty much guaranteed.
It took guts for the brave few to make the choice to buck the trend, to fight the power and reject the lure of tainted money. Albeit a small number of Congress, its still inspiring to see some break free from the ironclad grip Pro-Israeli lobbyist maintains over the institution. If this minority could do it, perhaps others can follow. Once one gets a taste of self respect and independence, its difficult to turn back.
Bottom line: If Americans are smart enough to appreciate the serious implications and political dynamics existing and operating behind the curtain of the Prime Minister's controversial speech, they would see this event as a defining moment in America history. We could be witnessing America's 21 century fight for independence in the making. Podcast Below!
