Issues Under Fire: In the Desperate Hours, Israel Spies on Iran Nuke Talks
Covering the nuclear negotiations between Iran and the so-called world powers (P5+1), has been nothing short of exciting enlighten and explosive at times. As we draw closer to the announcement of a deal or a collapse of the talks, its become apparent, desperation is the energy driving this story. From reports of Israel spying on the talks to last minute attempts to position the French to play the spoiler, they've left no option unused, save for a unilateral military strike.
Over the last few years, we've chronicled targeted assassinations of Iranian scientist, major cyber-attacks against Iran's nuclear program's infrastructure and Israel's relentless campaign, to paint Iran as the world's most dangerous state sponsor of international terror. After successfully defining Tehran's leadership as untrustworthy religious maniacs, hellbent on securing a bomb to annihilate the Israeli people, Israel has given itself license to dispense with tradition to breach any protocol and break every rule.
Today we learned from CNN and the Wall Street Journal's reporting that Israel gathered its own intelligence concerning the progress of the talks between Iran and those charged with reaching a long sort after agreement. Through espionage and spying, reportedly the Israelis eavesdropped on the closed door meetings, acquired information from confidential U.S. briefings and used informants and diplomatic contacts in Europe to help make its case against any deal with Iran. To nobody's surprise, Israel denies these reports.
Today, from our own snooping around, we also learned that Israel has made efforts to influence the French by sending Intelligence Minister, Yuval Steinitz and National Security Advisor, Yossi Cohen to chat with French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius. Since France has taken on the role of bad cop during the negotiations, Israel is leaning heavily on France to use its talking points in the final stages of the talks. According to Steinitz, "only a deal that dismantles, not simply freezes" Iran's program would be acceptable.
Like a wounded animal, finding itself trapped, alone and left without a friend in the world, the tiny occupying force, is desperately, hysterically and frantically doing everything within its power to collapse the talks, increase the heat in the region and keep the international community in a state of constant conflict. As long as the entire region remains aflame, Israel can hide the true nature of its stated goals behind the chaos.
Bottom line: With no where left to go, no one left to listen and no lies left untold, the international community should be prepared for just about anything from the Israelis going forward. If the occupier's behaviors during its latest election campaign is any indication of what the rogue state is capable of, we may very well see a unilateral preemptive military effort attempted if a deal is reached.
