Issues Under Fire: An International Tragedy: Israelis Vote for the Status Quo
After carefully examining Israel's 2015 election campaign rhetoric and eventual results, disturbing revelations came to the fore that can not be ignored. Since a plurality of the Israeli people have accepted Benjamin Netanyahu's view of Israel's future, one can only conclude, they too are willing to live with continuing the occupation and expanding illegal settlements in violations of international law, while treating Arab Israelis as second and third class citizens.
As long as Israel's affordable housing issues are addressed, the fact that Palestinians are homeless and existing in rubble is of little consequence. By their vote, the Israeli people have demonstrated they're more concerned with their daily standard of living than addressing the planet's worst and longest standing humanitarian crisis.
As long as the price of bread in Israel can be kept from rising too high, the fact that Palestinians in Gaza are starving is of little concern. By their vote, the Israeli people have demonstrated they're perfectly satisfied watching generation after generation of Palestinians waste away in hopelessness, as long as the Israeli economy can provide an adequate social safety net for its "Jewish" Israeli citizens. Being considered the most despised and isolated regimes in the world, seemingly has no effect on the nation's conscience.
By their vote, the Israeli people have told the world, they're willing to accept international condemnation for maintaining the largest open-air prison for a population of people who've committed no crime other than being born on the wrong side of a fence. By their vote, they've told the international community, Israel can and will maintain an apartheid system of governing, while still claiming it to be a Democracy. By their vote, Israelis appear to okay with being considered a race based rogue regime.
If the above assessment of Israeli sentiments is even remotely accurate, the international community has a problem. The world can no longer close its eyes to the decades of lies and deceptions perpetrated during so-called peace negotiation, when we now know for a fact, peace was never an option.
Now that Israel has voted down the concept of the two state solution, the international community will be obliged to reject Israel's inhumane policies and respond with international sanctions to curtail its atrocious activities. To standby and do nothing in the face of blatant admissions of acts of inhumanity, is to admit complicity in said acts of inhumanity.
If any of the above is true, the United States has a serious problem too. How can the United States continue to condone, support and do business with an entity so contrary to stated and promoted American values? How can the United States continue to supply weapons for Israel's bi-annual slaughtering of women and children under the guise of self defense? How can the United States keep referring to Hamas as a terrorist organization, when we now know for a fact, Palestinians have no other option, but to resist by any means necessary? The narrative is upside-down and inside-out.
Bottom line: In the final analysis, this is no longer about Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, this is about the Israeli people. This is not about the Israeli government misrepresenting the Israeli people, this is the Israeli people in full support of its government's vision.
Hence, this is about how the world will deal with the Israeli people's inhumane and unforgivable behaviors. This is about finally seeing the Israeli people for what they really are. Monsters! Podcast Below!
