Time for Self-Reflection
I don't know about you, but I need a moment to reflect. Hence, I'm reserving this day for review. Every once in a while, it's a good idea to examine the mind to see what it's been exposed to. Daily, the mind is bombarded with more external stimulation than generations past would've been subjected to in decades. Since much of said stimuli is more than negative chatter, it is wise to unplug and reflect upon what's worthy of retention and what should be deleted.
Although the human brain possesses a remarkable capacity for storing data, it has limits for some. Sometimes its a good idea to clear the crap out to think straight. Whether business or personal, just living through the average day, your mind, body, and spirit are tested at every turn you take.
Your emotions, resolve, ethics, values, patience, and intelligence are tested. Those unaware that every fiber of their being is being tested by the minute will spend most of their lives stressed out.
When taking time to self-reflect, you can review events and issues carefully enough to filter through what's demanding your attention and how you should respond if any response is warranted. Sometimes, life can move so fast that one can become unconsciously reactive to issues and events. At the end of the day, your head is filled with ideas, but you can't tell if they're yours or even how they got there. When that happens, you're not in control of life; your life is in control of you. You're adrift in life without a paddle.
Most of us have little control over what's seeping through our psychological and intellectual defenses. Therefore, one should remain aware that one can experience unexplained emotional reactions to events and issues others wouldn't even notice. If you think of your mind as a sponge dropped into an ocean every day, you should give it a squeeze regularly. You never can tell what will come out.
Those who endeavor to do some self-brainwashing should avoid seeking advice from friends and relatives. Nobody on earth can possibly know you better than you do, let alone your mind, so it wouldn't be wise to allow anyone else access to it. Personal reflection is all about you and nobody else but you.
Bottom line: Spending a little time in self-reflection will give you a better idea of who you are and how you became who you are. Doing it often enough may increase your chances of improving who you are. C-Ya Monday. Slack Slacker returns next Friday. Maybe!😀
