Issues Under Fire: Hump Day Should be a National Holiday
Every now and then, no matter how hot things get, it can be very difficult to get hot and bothered about them. Baltimore is on fire over police brutality precipitated by America's persistent racial and economic divide. The entire Middle East remains ablaze as per usual, and Congress is locked in a heated debate over the Iran Nuclear Review Bill. Unfortunately, today is one of those rare hump days when nothing can seem to generate more than a big "So What!"
Normally, any one of the above issues would trigger some type of response, but not today. Today is a don't give a damn day. Today is an out of office experience day. Today is a no-show day. Today is personal day. Today is a sick and tired of looking at coworkers day. Today is a Hump Day and that means today is a play hooky day.
While some like Mondays and Fridays to be MIA or AWOL for an extended weekend, others like to break the week up in the middle from time to time. Knowing you only have to be on the job for two days before a short respite, always gives you something to look forward to. Two days on, one day off and its only Thursday and Friday, before its Saturday and Sunday again. Hump Day, should be a national holiday.
Bottom line: Even if Iran's Supreme Leader did criticize the United States for brutish law enforcement behavior toward American Blacks and even if Congress admitted it was being an obvious obstacle to progress in the Iran-P5+1 nuclear talks and even if peace suddenly broke out in the Middle East, this observer simply couldn't care less on this unofficial Hump Day holiday. Until tomorrow, enjoy a beautiful spring day. Podcast Below!
