Issues Under Fire: Understanding How ISIS/ISIL Gets in Your Head 

As President Obama continues to promote and prosecute his strategy against ISIS/ISIL in Syria Iraq and beyond with air strikes, intelligence gathering, special operations, regional coalition building and beefing up homeland defenses against internal threats, more needs to be done to assist in undermining ISIS/ISIL as a threat. While the president will eventually realize marginal results from bombing oil fields, disrupting supply chains and thus choking off economic resources, his strategy won't choke off ISIS/ISIL's human resources. 

Astute observers have already concluded, bombs, intelligence gathering, border security and Muslim monitoring will not win a war against ideas. Once planted and carefully nurtured, ideas are passed on to others like the flu. A better understanding of how those ideas are planted and nurtured will play a huge role in undermining those ideas. Understanding how ISIS/ISIL recruits young unfulfilled minds may be the key. What is their technique? And it ain't money, because people willing to die for a cause generally work cheap. 

Two avoid reinventing the wheel, you might want to look at how the U.S. military recruits. Essentially, ISIS/ISIL and the U.S. military have the same basic internal objections to over come when trying to persuade a young impressionable minds to die for a cause. What techniques are employed to convince potential recruits to don a uniform, take a weapon and fly half way around the world to kill people they've never seen before. How do you get them to sign on the bottom line? You make them feel like they going to be apart of something special. 

While it may sound crazy, it might be helpful to consult pimps to understand how they recruit and train their hookers. How do they get into to a woman's head so deep, she'll give some head for a fee. How do pimps convince the woman to give that fee to them after she's worked so hard for that money? How does the pimp, not only keep all the money, but keeps control of the woman's mind? You make them feel like family. 

Gang leaders are another good source for understanding recruitment techniques. Many of these people have tremendous skills in mind control. They too, have to over come one's basic instincts to resist excessive risk to one's self. In order to be successful, they have to find ways to get a young mind to sell drugs, carry a gun and kill another human being they might not even know. Gang recruiters do this by offering a sense of belonging. 

Like it or not, gang leaders have developed the same skill sets needed to indoctrinate open minds as any other entity charged with swelling the ranks of its membership. While the sane world is depending on the international effort to defeat ISIS/ISIL militarily, individuals can help by defeating ISIS/ISIS's ideologically. To do that, its imperative we understand that ISIS/ISIL is offering the same enticements and inducements the U.S. military, pimps and gang recruiters do.  

Bottom line: ISIS/ISIL is offering young lonely minds a family that understands them. ISIS/ISIL is offering young directionless minds something to be apart of. ISIS/ISIL is offering young empty minds something to believe in. In doing so, ISIS/ISIL is able to get young idle minds to accept dangerously radical alternatives to accepted societal norms. Until the sane world can fill the voids in young susceptible minds, ISIS/ISIL and groups like them will never be contained. Podcast below!
