In the interest of history, we're taking a break from our continuing coverage of America's Redneck Rebellion in Oregon to provide a little analysis of the Obama administration's tenure in the White House.
After Barack Obama finished his final State of the Union address last evening, this observer was left wondering why America even needed a new president. Why replace a perfectly good Commander in Chief with someone unequaled in vision, intellect, character and of course, eloquence? Why should Americans go through the agony of being forced fed senseless debates and endless negative ads from a pack of unworthy political combatants? Why?
It only takes a cursory look at the current crop of assholes, morons and corrupt wannabes campaigning for the world's top job to realize, none of them can adequately replace Barack Hussein Obama. Standing head and shoulders among his critics and rivals this president can leave the Oval Office knowing he singlehandedly elevated the bar of ethics, moral standing and compassion for his fellow man. And he did this in the face of unprecedented hate from those committed to his failure.
No matter how desperately political candidates try to refute, reject, repeal or distance themselves from his accomplishments, this observer is convinced history will look upon the Obama presidency as one of, if not the most populace, uplifting and transformational administrations in modern times. Not since JFK has America produce a president as forward thinking, determined and driven to create equal opportunities for every American willing to work for a better future.
In fact, beside Barack Obama, few presidents have spoken so passionately about America's future and what the country could do if all Americans had the opportunity to participate in the building of a better nation. No president tried harder than Barack Obama to provide basic essentials like affordable healthcare, education, livable wages and a dignified social safety net for those struggling at the bottom. And he did this despite having to engage the cesspool of treachery in Congress.
Save for Bernie Sanders, none of the assholes, morons and corrupt wannabes seeking the presidency in 2016 are doing anything more than paying lip service to the bread and butter issues threatening the future of this fragile union. While this is not an endorsement of the Sanders candidacy, it would be unfair not to acknowledge his commitment to providing more power to the powerless and less of it to the powerful.
Bottom line: In this observer's opinion, America has just seen the best president its going to have for generations to come. Sadly, although its laudable for President Obama to have faith America's woefully corrupt and polarized political system can be fixed in time to confront the racial and economic divides currently tearing the country apart, the likelihood of that happening is rather remote. If Barack Obama couldn't do it, the assholes, morons and corrupt wannabes will only make the state of the union worse. Podcast below.
