Issues Under Fire: 2016 Elections Lies, Lies, All Lies

If South Carolina's primary and Nevada's caucus is any dreadful forecast of the nation's final choices for Commander in Chief, Americans will be placing their lives, future and security in the hands of a man or woman they don't even trust. Hillary Clinton is running all over the country telling Black people she's going to continue Barack Obama's legacy. Donald Trump says he's going to do more for Black people than Barack Obama did in his entire presidency. I kid you not. Lies, lies, all lies.
With all candidates accusing one another of misleading, misrepresenting or outright lying about everything the other is saying or has said, who is the public to trust? Thankfully, the field of combatants is thinning out quickly, so it won't be long before only the best liars are left standing. But again, who is the public to trust? Even the most casual spectator will be compelled to ask, after such blatant pandering Black voters are being lavished with lately.
If you listen to Hillary Clinton, she's promising to push for criminal justice reform, affordable education, fight to end systemic racism and gain equal pay for women of color. If you listen to Donald Trump, Blacks should vote for a Trump's administration because it will bring good paying jobs to the Black community as he makes America great again. According to Trump, just hanging on to his coattails, Blacks could drag themselves out of the nation's gutter. Unfortunately, both candidates have serious issues with trustworthiness.
The biggest rap against Hillary Clinton is her inability to convince Democrats, Progressives, Liberals or Independents she's honest and trustworthy. No matter whose doing the polling, Clinton consistently gets low ratings on the two most positive words when describing a president: honest and trusworthy. According to a Quinnipiac poll, 57% do not view Clinton as honest and trustworthy, while only 37% do.
The biggest rap against Donald Trump is he can't even convince Republicans he's a conservative, let alone a Republican. And oddly enough, when it comes to Donald Trump's polling on honesty and trustworthiness, they were not only as low as Hillary Clinton's, they were identical to Hillary Clinton's rating. The fact that neither of these candidates have earned the nation's trust or confidence, but somehow still ended up being the front runners for the presidency, is a mystery and this observer hates mysteries.
If you don't want to get snookered in this election cycle, you'd be wise to review your life's record of trusting people. Have you ever found out you couldn't trust someone close to you? Did you see it coming or were you totally surprised? If not, why not? If someone was able to maintain your confidence while using your ignorance for their own personal gain, you might just be the gullible type.
Did you hook up with a trustworthy spouse or significant other? Hell, they sleep in bed with you. Do you have trustworthy kids? For heavens sake, they may have to take care of you someday. What about your best friends, business partner, childcare provider, lawyer, doctor, accountant or financial advisor? If you've ever been let down, disappointed or outright lied to by someone you've trusted before, you should know the signs of a liar when you see them by now.
Bottom line: Over the next few months the country will be saturated with negative TV ads, debates, town hall gatherings and meet and greets, in order to convince you the candidates care. You'll be told they feel your pain and want to see you prosper. They're going to promise they and only they can make you safe and make you secure. Hillary Clinton will tell you Donald Trump can't be trusted and Donald Trump will respond in kind, only worse. All you have to do is trust them with your vote and all your problems will fade away. The only problem you have is trusting the right liar. Podcast below!
