Issues Under Fire: Country Club vs Cloth Coat Republicans

While observing the always immaculately attired Donald Trump address his rabid supporters this weekend, it was difficult to ignore the stark difference between the "The Donald" and those hungering to be like him. Many arriving in their daily best for Trump rallies look like pathetic paupers by comparison. And flocking to his events like zombies struck with gold fever, Trump supporters wait for hours in lines hoping to be blessed by his midas touch.
These are Cloth Coat Republicans. Cloth Coat Republicans are hard working White Americans with low wage jobs and nothing to look forward to but more hard work for even lower wages as globalization leaves them further behind. Cloth Coat Republicans have been convinced that Donald Trump's extraordinary business savvy will make America great again. Somehow, they think Trump will bring the factories back, provide job security for the marginally educated and most of all, keep wage killing immigrants out of the country. If only these suckers knew the truth.
While, Donald Trump may call himself a Republican, "The Donald" is a Country Club Republican and these are two very different demographics. Cloth Coat Republicans work for Country Club Republicans and by and large, generally they're poorly compensated for their labor. The Country Club types didn't build financial empires by treating workers fairly, paying a living wage or giving a damn about a low wage earner's job security. Country Club types are driven purely by profit and only profit.

As the Country Club types are wheeling and dealing while practicing their golf swings on some fabulous course, the Cloth Coats types are answering phones, standing on their feet all day, making deliveries or telemarketing calls. The Cloth Coat Republicans are changing bed pans, auto transmissions and even changing neighborhoods as their quality of life continues sliding to depths they've not experienced before. When they meet in rare social gatherings, the Cloth Coats and the Country Club types often have awkward moments communicating. Yet, they look at Donald Trump and think he, of all people, understands and cares about their issues.
In reality, Country Club Republicans are embarrassed by their loser cousins. They see the Cloth Coats as labor, human resources or disposable tools to be used efficiently . The cloth coats and the country clubs have nothing in common and they never did. The Country Clubs went to private school and the Cloth Coats went to public. The Country Club kids are exposed to the arts, sciences, languages and international travel, while the Cloth Coats are being taught just enough to pass a standardized test. When Country Club Republicans feel unsafe, they hire private security firms for protection. When Cloth Coat Republicans feel unsafe they buy another gun.
Bottom line: Country Club Republicans like Donald Trump have always looked down at Cloth Coat Republicans. They don't travel in the same circles or hang out at the same places. The only reason Trump and others of his ilk tolerate low income and poorly educated Cloth Coat Republicans is to secure their votes for another election cycle. Similar to African Americans, Cloth Coat Republicans are no more than a necessary nuisance to the Country Club Class. Still, if you think Cloth Coat Republicans are angry now, wait until they realize they've been had again. Podcast below!
