Issues Under Fire: Masterminds and Misfits
In our never-ending quest to help millennials understand how the world really works, we'd like to introduce you to the M&Ms of Life. And while this title may sound catchy, quirky and promise a quick fun read, you'd be wise to pay close attention, because at the end of this post, you'll be tasked with determining if you're a mastermind, a misfit or somewhere in between. Let us explain.
Most people get up in the morning and start their day with little thought given to their station in life. Yes, your station in life. We've come to realize the world has been manipulated into a well regulated caste system. And depending upon where one finds or defines oneself in the hierarchy of this "Mastermind to Misfit" caste system, that can ultimately determine the outcome of one's life. Since it's clear the Masterminds reside at the top of the pecking order, we'll start with them first.
Masterminds are smart, slick, clever and conning people. These are the ones who manipulate every aspect of our lives. They're the designers and developers of the world's social order. From penthouses and corporate boardrooms, they determine who our political representatives will be, be they presidents or prime ministers. As controllers of the world's economy, they hold sway over every dollar we make, spend, save or invest. Still, as smart, slick, clever and conning as these Masterminds are, they need managers. Say hello to the M.B.A.s
M.B.A. types are smart, hardworking, social climbers with aspirations of upward mobility. As bought and paid for flunkies by the Masterminds, they work their fingers to the bone making sure the world works according to the Mastermind's master plan. Like senior management in some mega conglomerate or political puppets in government, the M.B.A. type's role is to be the face of the Mastermind. They're rewarded for keeping wages down, profits up and laws obeyed. When the masses complain, the M.B.A. type's job is to manage (reduce) expectations and take the heat if too many get wise to the system. Say hello to The Masses.
The Masses consist of those with slightly above average intelligence, with delusions of upward mobility. These are ordinary people who do everything from fighting wars, crime and fires to coaching and teaching our kids. They flip burgers and deliver pizza. The masses are made up of our retail employees, security personnel, and hospital staffs. They're the carpenters, construction and factory workers. They work in nail parlors, barber shops and beauty salons. They are us and for the most part we are clueless.
"We the Masses" have no idea why hard work and playing by the rules doesn't work anymore and haven't for decades. Yet, the Masses continue to get up every morning with the expectation that someone, somewhere, somehow will change that ugly reality. No matter how much they scream, protest and vote for change, recent history will show somebody way above is pulling the strings and the Masses remain powerless to do anything about it. Anyone refusing to accept this ugly reality will have a hard time fitting in. Say hello to The Misfits.
Misfits are generally bright, capable, interesting, creative and spirited types of individuals. In fact, many possess the same level of intellect as that of the Mastermind. However these people are far less ambitious, controlling and power hungry. They can see the world for what it is and how it got that way. They're under no illusions as to who owns the planet and have made a conscious decision not to participate unless it's on their terms. These are loners and social renegades.
If you're a millennial who's yet to find your classification listed, you should probably be worried, because Morons and Maniacs is all that's left. But since Morons and Maniacs are the people mopping floors and murdering children and will hopefully spend their lives as mental patients and convicts, we say, what's the point?
Bottom line: If you don't wake up every morning with a burning desire to rule the world, manage the masses or are just satisfied with finding a decent job paying a livable wage with benefits, you're more than likely a Misfit. And if you're a millennial, don't feel bad, as more and more are defining themselves as such each and everyday. Podcast below.
