Issues Under Fire: Will Jesus Ever Return?
We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but after getting off a conference call with Jesus not long ago, we can tell you with absolute certainty, he has no plans of returning to earth any time soon. When we asked why, his answer was short and simple. Jesus said we're not ready. After the way he was treated the last time he came to teach humanity, Jesus said he's waiting for signs that show his people have changed. So far, Jesus is not impressed.
In fact, Jesus has so little confidence in our ability to change, he said if he made an appearance today, he'd probably be crucified again. When we asked why he felt that way, Jesus explained the only message he has is "Do the Right Thing" and while that message hasn't changed in two thousand years, his people have yet to get it. Even though we all innately know love is right and hate is wrong, for some ungodly reason we just seem to embrace hate more often than not. For Jesus, this is unacceptable. We should've known that.
Realizing Jesus was stating facts impossible to argue with, on behalf of the world, we asked him if he could have a little more faith in his people, since so many have had faith in him. That was a mistake. Jesus went on a holy tirade telling me to look at who'd be leading the so-called free world next year. Of its own "Free Will", America will elect a rich, warmongering elitist, with little concern for the sick, the poor, the elderly, or the future of the world's next generation. Again, for Jesus this is unacceptable. And again, we should've known this too.
Knowing Jesus is the kinda guy that would share his bread, wine and fish with total strangers, it made perfect sense that he'd be disgusted with the choices we'd settled for. A guy that healed lepers and returned the gift of sight to the blind, while never charging a dime for his services, is a guy who'd probably fight to his death for universal healthcare. A guy that gained biblical fame for chasing merchants and money changers from God's Temple, probably wouldn't be too cozy with the world's corporate class or Wall Street bankers. A guy like that wouldn't be building walls to separate us, he'd be building bridges to bring us closer together. Hey, this shouldn't be news either.
After allowing Jesus to vent a few more minutes (as if we could stop him) we knew it was senseless to think we could change his mind because he was dead right on all counts. If Jesus came back with a populist message that had any chance of resonating with the masses, he'd have to be dealt with and dealt with severely. Jesus would be just as much of a threat to the elites of today as he was to those more than two thousand years ago. Nothing has changed. And because God has given us Free Will, Jesus is powerless to do anything about it.
At this point, we were ready to accept the fact that Jesus had washed his hands of us. Besides, during the entire conversation we were distracted with emails and text messages coming in about the Syrian refugee crisis. And since our desire to skip his lecture on opening our hearts and borders to the most homeless, helpless and hopeless people in the world became painfully obvious, Jesus abruptly hung the phone up. Yep. Just a dial tone filled the void from that moment on. Make of it what you will.
Bottom line: Jesus is pissed and with good reason. From his perspective, we've been given more opportunities and advantages than any other species on this planet. Unfortunately, we used those opportunities and advantages greedily, selfishly and hatefully, while destroying our Garden of Eden in the process. If Jesus is going to make a return, we're gonna have to do a lot better than we are now. But until we do, we can consider ourselves alone. Welcome to Darker Times. Podcast below.
BTW, praying and tithing is a waste of time, going forward. Anything less than changing our ways is unacceptable. Hey, that's what he said. So don't hate; we're simply the messengers.
