Hillary Clinton Joins the Resistance, As the Resistance Resists Her
During our coverage of House and Senate investigations into Donald Trump's campaign crew, the firing of FBI Director James Comey and the looming crisis on the Korean peninsula, we must admit, a story critical to Progressives may have been overlooked. Several days ago, Hillary Clinton resurfaced from her self-imposed exile, to declare she's joining the Donald Trump resistance movement. Clinton is pledging to create a political organization to fund resistance groups vehemently opposed to Donald Trump and the GOP. While some may see this as a good thing, We say, not so fast.
It has been said, "One Shouldn't Bite the Hand That Feeds You", but it's also been said, "One Should Beware Greeks Bearing Gifts". And when it comes to Hillary Clinton, one would be wise to adhere to the latter. The resistance movement should be careful not to invite the fox into the hen house. Anything Hillary Clinton brings to the Trump resistance should be viewed with a healthy dose of skepticism. Hillary Clinton wants to get back into the game in the worst way and she'll do and say anything to make that happen. It's tough when you're addicted to the limelight of politics.
So, the resistance should want to know where that money is really coming from and what strings will eventually be attached. Often, the easiest way to infiltrate a movement is to fund it. At the beginning, the "funding infiltrator" will always highlight the "common ground" within the "targeted" group and keep "differences" on the back-burner. It should be noted here, the differences are generally your principles. And principles are generally tested last. It takes time, patience and clever subversion to breakdown one's resistance to money.
As soon as the group becomes dependent on that funding, and they always do, the funding infiltrator will subtly propose compromises to ensure continued participation. A softer tone might be suggested. There'll be a proposal to adjust the resistance's strategy. The funding infiltrator will offer advisors to assist resetting the group's direction and goals. In effect, they'll have assumed the role of setting the agenda. And as long as the ready funding remains the focal point, hard liners and those with principles will have a difficult time fighting the requested changes.
At this point, the strength of the resistance will have been so diluted, its original intent might be unrecognizable. Suddenly, grassroots organizers, community and social activists and those loyal to Progressive ideals, will find themselves on the outside looking in at their own party. They'll be marginalized as extremists, malcontents, dreamers and idealists. They'll be painted as being too far Left of what can realistically be achieved. And that's when the resistance movement will realize it's been co-opted by the Democratic Establishment.
Bottom line: Hillary Clinton's campaign slogan read: "We're Stronger Together", but in reality the resistance can do better on its own. So don't be fooled. Sure, they say "One Should Never Look a Gift Horse in the Mouth". However, if that gift horse is no more than a broken-down swayback of a nag with nothing but dirty money to buy "HER" way out of the glue factor, we'd say Progressives would be wise to look for a smart filly of a strong stallion to get them across the finish line.
