White House: Help Wanted, But Only Flunkies Need Apply
Finally, it's the end of another difficult week covering the insanity raging in the White House. However, as much as we wanted to fade into a blissful spring weekend, Donald Trump's latest disturbing interview, where he mangled his explanation for firing FBI Director James Comey, was simply too revealing to leave unexamined until Monday. Please, take a minute for this brief explanation.
While others rightly focused on Trump's blatant contradictions, we couldn't get past the sense that James Comey may have been fired more for his independence, than for any shortcomings he'd been blamed for as Director of the FBI. It's no secret, Donald Trump demands loyalty and anyone wanting to work for him must pass a loyalty test. Perhaps, when former Director Comey requested more funding to continue his investigation into the Russian issue, he failed that test. And with Donald Trump, you only get one chance.
Donald Trump has made it crystal clear, he wants to put the kibosh on any serious investigation into his 2016 campaign, his associations, his finances, his conflicts of interest and most importantly, his damn taxes. Donald Trump thinks that now that he's president, he should be able to make all that go away. But, he needs people he can depend on to make that happen. Donald Trump needed an FBI Director that followed orders. He needed an FBI Director that understood who was the boss. He needs an FBI Director who'd be a "team player." And because former FBI Director Comey didn't fit that profile, he found himself unemployed today.
If any of what we surmise above is true, and we think it is, considering the many leaks and rumors swirling among those close enough to know, then one has to take this conversation to the next level. Donald Trump's obsession with loyalty may be the reason for the rampant incompetence on display daily by his administration. A closer look at the people who've made it into the President's inner circle might reveal Trump's administration is no more than a pack of hand picked flunkies who'll acquiesce to any order given just to remain in the good graces of "The Donald". This is dangerous, to say the least.
One has to wonder if America is being governed by the C- team. Perhaps second and third stringers were brought on board for no other reason than their willingness to comply with any command. This theory would explain a lot of why Trump's administration seems to be in a perpetual state of crisis. This theory would explain why the Trump administration appears to be out of sync and out of touch with any semblance of reality. This theory would also explain why the Trump administration is aways at odds with the press. This is a theory we should all pay attention to. So for those seeking a position in the White House, you've been warned. You know what's expected of you. Loyalty is a must. Experience, knowledge and competence are optional.
Bottom line: The next time you see Donald Trump in the Oval Office signing one of his Executive Orders, see if you can spot the flunkey in the crowd surrounding his desk. On the other hand, don't bother. If you agree with our theory, then you'd be correct to presume they're all flunkies surrounding Donald Trump, because he wouldn't have it any other way.
