America: A Nation Without A Plan, Direction or Leadership
Do you feel like America is floating adrift? Do you feel like America is a country lost without a road map or a compass? Can it be that the United States no longer understands its place in the world? Do you get the impression America is going around in circles? If this is how you're feeling, you're not alone. Many Americans are feeling this way. Many more are just feeling their way though life like the sight impaired, because they have no idea what's coming next, from where or why. And the reason is clear. Americans were sold a vision without a plan to achieve it.
Americans were promised America would be made great again, but that promise came from a man without foresight. That promise came from a man without an appreciation for concepts like commitment, consequences and cooperation. That promise came from a man without an understanding of the importance of building and maintaining international relationships. But most importantly, that promise came from a man with a plan to dismantle the United States government, but had no plan for how to rebuild it.
As America now stands alone and isolated, we can see how other leaders are planning to lay the foundation for economic progress and national advancement for the populations they represent. China is most prominent as President Xi moves forward with his Belt and Road initiative, connecting Asia, Europe and East Africa, through the geoeconomics of continental integration. The people of China can see what their tomorrow will look like based on what China's leader is planning today. While President Xi is building bridges, tunnels and railroads to bring nations together economically, politically and diplomatically, America's so-called leadership is taking America in the opposite direction.
When we examined President Putin of Russia, it was easy to see his plans for Mother Russia. While it's true Vladimir Putin intends to do a little dismantling himself, he's not doing it to his own country. Vladimir Putin is planning to dismantle Europe and disrupt the United States. He needs to weaken these two entities in order to create opportunities for bilateral agreements with unprotected neighbors he'd never enjoy, were those neighbors strengthened by alliances with the United States and others. And so far, Putin's plan is working. He's left America's political process in disarray and driven a wedge the size of the Atlantic ocean between the United States and Europe.
From Japan's Prime Minister Abe to Germany's Chancellor Merkel to France's President Marcon to Canada's Prime Minister Trudeau to the UK's Prime Minister May, you can see a plan in action. Abe's plan is steady Japan's economy. Merkel's plan is steady Europe's economy. Macron's is to stabilize France's economy. Trudeau's plan is growing Canada's middle class and May's plan is to negotiate the best deal for the UK as it exits the E.U. Hell, even Kim Jong-un of North Korea has a plan, as he's steadily building his first nuclear armed intercontinental ballistic missile. Sure, you might not like Kim's plan, but at least he's got one and so far, it's working too.
Bottom line: Unfortunately, currently here in America, there is no path to follow, because there is no leadership with a plan to follow. There's no plan to deliver better jobs, higher wages, affordable healthcare or more economic opportunities. There is no plan to develop stronger international cooperation to avoid additional military engagements and/or other international conflicts. And there is no plan to make America great again. Remember, it was the French writer Antoine de Saint-Exupery who said, "A goal without a plan is just a wish". Podcast below.
