Issues Under Fire: As He Destroys the Planet, EPA Administrator Needs 24/7 Security
Facing unprecedented levels of death threats on a daily bases, Scott Pruitt, the Environmental Protection Agency's administrator, has requested security to protect his life. Adding an additional 12 agents to the existing 18 will provide 24/7 security for Pruitt at a cost of more than 2 million taxpayer dollars per year. By the way, that price tag does not include the cost of training, equipment and travel. The expense is being justified by the EPA's inspector general office, as it reports Pruitt has received more death threats than any of his predecessors. Since we were wondering why, we did what we always do, we Googled Scott Pruitt and here's what we found.

You don't even need to click on the links to understand why a lot of people around the world would take issue with Scott Pruitt. His stance on climate change in the face of super hurricanes, tornados, wildfires, typhoons, tsunamis, global flooding, the Arctic meltdown and droughts has the international community, environmentalists, climatologists and world renowned scientists fighting a losing battle against the EPA administrator's special interest friendly policies. Gutting the agency of funding, staffing and any other resources to protect the environment, could appear to some that Pruitt either doesn't understand the irreversible damage he's presiding over or he's intentionally trying to F@%K-UP the planet.
Whatever is motivating Mr. Pruitt, it appears he has little support beyond the oil and coal industries, "45" - the ultimate climate change denier - and an assortment of toxic polluters of fresh water and clear air seeking relief from regulations that manage their activities. With this in mind, it's no wonder why some would develop a particular disdain for a man they feel is contributing to the destruction of the environment. When you Google someone in Mr. Pruitt's position and can't find any favorable stories about him at all, it's safe to say he has far too many credible critics to be doing the right thing.
Bottom line: Our hearts go out to the men and women who'll be responsible for providing security for someone who could arguably be the most dangerous person in the world, save for Donald Trump of course. To know they're protecting someone whose primary objective is to undermine policies, regulations and other safeguards enacted to preserve the world's delicate ecosystem, has to make them wonder if they're doing the right thing.
