Issues Under Fire: Manafort & Gates Indicted, But "45" Remains Person of Interest
Two of "45's" crookedest looking campaign associates, seemingly corrupt to the core, have been placed under house arrest and relieved of their passports to ensure neither will make a run for the border. Both Paul Manafort and Rick Gates have been charged with money laundering, conspiracy against the United States government, being unregistered foreign agents, as well as seven counts of failing to file reports of foreign bank and financial accounts. Make no mistake about it, these are serious charges and they carry some serious prison time if convicted on them. So the question of the day is, who'll RAT first?
While White House officials are trying to convince anyone who'll listen that they're confident the legal predicaments Manafort and Gates find themselves in has nothing to do with "45" or his campaign for president, even the most casual of observers know better. These are white-collar criminal offenses and white-collar criminals don't do well behind bars. Paul Manafort is staring at 151 to 181 months of incarceration and Rick Gates is facing 121-151 months in the hoosegow. That's a lot of time for two White men who're accustomed to the good life. So, you can bet your bottom dollar, if the Feds offer a deal for them to implicate others, they'll take it in a heartbeat. So much for honor among thieves.
Knowing either of these men at any time could start giving up others to save their own asses, the White House's master of distraction and misdirection ramped up his Tweet attacks against Hillary Clinton. Billing her as America's crook de jour and forevermore, for that matter, "45" is suggesting the media, congressional investigators and the public, should focus all eyes on her. Unfortunately, "45's" Tweets reek of a man with much to hide. Let's face it, Hillary Clinton has been been politically de-fanged forevermore. She's not the president and she never will be. So common sense demands we move on.
Save for Fox News consumers, nobody gives a rat's ass about dredging up Hillary Clinton's past. Not her e-mails, not the uranium deal or even blaming her for funding that salaciously damning dossier will hold the world's attention when additional indictments are announced. And there will be more. Sure, it may take some time before that happens, but it's like today's sexual predator not knowing when someone from his past will suddenly find the strength to share their story of what he's done to them. This too, is hard time. This is time to worry, sweat and pray. This is stressful time.
Still, some sociopaths/psychopaths handle these situations better than others, so it'll be entertaining to observe how "45" holds up under the pressure. How far will he go with his Tweets? Who will he lash out at next? How many people will he throw under the bus as the investigator's noose tightens? Will he resort to promising pardons for those convicted to insure their silence? How will he handle a Q&A session when it comes to that? And it will. Has he deluded himself into thinking he can pardon himself? Or, will he experience a nervous breakdown and claim insanity? Now that would be something to see. That'll go viral on Youtube.
Bottom line: If we've said it once, we've said it a million times. Nobody makes billions of dollars in New York and around the world without lying, cheating, stealing, evading taxes, bribing public officials, hiding assets and conspiring to cover up those and other criminal activities. While the world is looking for collusion, the investigation is looking for crimes committed. And if our observations are correct,"45" must be shitting bricks in the Oval Office. Podcast below.
