Issues Under Fire: Donna Brazile To Critics: Go To Hell - Progressives Agree!
When you've got stories igniting like wildfires on a hot, dry and windy day, it's tough to pick and choose which flame-up to pay attention to. So, when Donna Brazile's book set off a firestorm of controversy between the DNC and the Progressive Movement this weekend, we knew that story had no chance of cooling off anytime soon.  When it was reported Special Counsel Robert Mueller had enough evidence to arrest "45's" former National Security Advisor, Michael Flynn, and Flynn Jr., at any time, we knew that story would only heat up. And of course, the mass killings in a Texas church would trigger another round of inflammatory debates over gun control in America. We start today with Donna Brazile's sizzling issue.
Facing an unprecedented backlash from Clinton loyalists for exposing the DNC as being as crooked as a dog's hind leg, Donna Brazile is telling her critics they can go to hell. As far a Brazile is concerned, she's got a story to tell and she's gonna tell it. In her book entitled "Hacks: The Inside Story of Break-Ins and Breakdowns That Put Donald Trump in the White House", Brazile broke ranks with the DNC establishment by explaining exactly how the Clinton campaign took over DNC operations. In short, Clinton paid off the DNC's debts in exchange for control of the decision-making process.
The DNC was flat broke, despite how often it was flooding Democrats' email boxes with constant pleas and excuses for donations. However, most of those efforts were going into spam folders to be deleted en masse. Having no alternative, DNC officials had to make a deal with the devil just to survive.Unfortunately, that deal was made so early in the process of deciding who'd finally represent the Party, it was for the most part, a foregone conclusion who'd finally represent the Party. Hillary Clinton was a shoo-in. So, in the end, it all came down to what it always comes down to - money. And frankly speaking, Brazile is fighting that money now.
The Democrat's establishment came out in full force to challenge Brazile's accusations, citing a paragraph in the agreement that states: "Nothing in this agreement shall be construed to violate the DNC's obligation of impartiality and neutrality through the Nominating process. All activities performed under this agreement will be focused exclusively on preparations for the General Election and not the Democratic Primary. Further, we understand you may enter into similar agreements with other candidates."
Relying on this included language to attack Brazile's account of how events were manipulated throughout the 2016 campaign, Clinton surrogates wasted no time calling on Democratic faithfuls to ignore Brazile's comments, accusations and more than anything else, her book. The message was clear. Keep Democrats united and focused on moving forward. While acknowledging reform was necessary and would happen over time, it was far more important to remain unified against Donald Trump and the GOP. Whatever Brazile had to say was to be considered no more than a shameless effort to sell her book. Only time will tell if the establishment backlash can quiet the storm.
Bottom line: Democrats would be wise to step lightly when it comes to slamming Donna Brazile. Telling her to shut up and get back in line might not go over very well at a time when Black voters are waking up to fresh approaches to achieving and maintaining economic progress. With nothing but failure in down ballot elections and an untrustworthy track-record to show for the last eight years, the DNC can hardly afford to get into a row with someone who epitomizes the Black Vote. After all, if Democrats lose the Black vote, the Democrats lose everything. Podcast below.
