Issues Under Fire: Welcome to The Donald Trump Show
Since Donald Trump entered the Oval Office there's been a circus parade of top-level players entering and exiting his chaotic administration. But I must admit it's been one hell of a show. It's almost as though the entire world unknowingly tuned into a situation dramedy brought to us by the White House. And if true, Donald Trump should get all the credit for writing, directing, producing, casting and of course, starring in this internationally watched smash hit. Sure, we've all heard of and used the term political theater, but this is different. The world has never seen anything like Trump before. This is must-see TV. It only looks and feels like news.
From day one, when Sean Spicer announced Donald Trump's inauguration day crowds were the largest ever in the history of Presidential inaugurations, it's been nothing less than a wild ride on the crazy side. Perhaps the Tweets, the lies, the name-calling, the bullying, the sexual harassment accusations, the vulgar language and the porn star stories are what entertainment is all about in the 21st century because there hasn't been a dull moment in the White House since Trump took the oath of office. The chaos and conflicts never end. Every day is another episode of WTF. So, it's easy to understand why people can't turn away or change the channel.
If you take the time to examine some of the cast of characters hired and fired to play their roles, it should be obvious Donald Trump is looking for big ratings and positive reviews. Individuals like Anthony "The Mooch" Scaramucci and Omarosa, brought entertainment value to the production. Think of how the media was fixated on the Mooch's character. The way he spoke and carried himself must've captivated Americans in the South and Mid-West. How often did people from the Bible Belt get a chance to see a slick, silk-suited operator perform at the highest levels? How often does anybody hear reports of a bona fide DIVA being escorted from the White House kicking, screaming and cursing to the high heavens?
While some say this is all just an attempt to distract the public's attention, I say it's just entertainment. Donald Trump, for the most part, admitted as much himself when he said he likes pitting White House staffers and cabinet members against each another. Like dog or cockfighting, Trump enjoys the chaos. In fact, he encourages it. Observing the backstabbing, palace intrigue as adversaries jockey for position to kiss his ass helps to satisfy his thirst for praise and attention. Donald Trump knows he's at the center of the world's attention and he's scripted the madcap extravaganza for maximum effect. And when the madness gets old, there's always the fear factor.
At any time, day or night, the most powerful and dangerously insane man on the planet can do, say or Tweet something that could crash the stock market, incite a terrorist attack, send U.S. soldiers into combat, create global instability or worse. Remember, Donald Trump does have access to the nation's nuclear codes. World leaders must go to sleep every night wondering what Donald Trump will or won't do next. But this too is just part of the show. People love to be frightened when they got to the movies. So, when Donald Trump is goading North Korea into a nuclear conflict, starting a trade war with China and the European Union, while threatening to back out of long-term agreements and contracts with allies and adversaries, he's doing it to the world on the edge of its seat waiting for the next shoe to drop. And with Donald Trump, there's always another shoe dropping.
Bottom line: let's face it, these are dark times. In fact, they've never been darker. Of this, I am certain. There's a deranged madman in the White House orchestrating national and international events, without the slightest concern for how his directions will impact the lives of Americans or the rest of the world. What we're witnessing is a close up of lunacy without checks or balances. That said, the only thing left to say is, come one come all. Welcome to the Donald Trump presidency. If it's not canceled soon, it may go down in history as the greatest show on earth. Podcast below.
